2022 French Open Betting Update: Swiatek and Kasatkina Will Meet in the Semifinals

The 2022 French Open is nearing a close as only eight players remain in the race for the coveted trophy. And as if the tournament as a whole hasn’t produced enough exciting, unexpected, and memorable moments, the quarter-finals round of Roland Garros was just as exciting and unpredictable.

In this article, we will take a look at some of the most memorable events that have happened in France, as the world’s top tennis players took one step closer to reaching the grand final. Let’s jump right into action so you can keep betting against the French Open Odds.

2022 French Open Betting Recap Heading Into Semifinals Matches

Swiatek Breezes Into Semis

The current world no.1, Iga Swiatek, stormed into the French Open semi-finals on Wednesday with a convincing victory against Jessica Pegula. Swiatek won the match 6-3, 6-2, showing complete dominance over the USA’s tennis star to extend her winning streak to 33 in a row!

With her success on the day, Swiatek has now taken one step closer to equalling Serena Williams’ record of 34 straight wins, and she could set a new world record if Swiatek goes all the way and wins the Grand Slam.

By reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 French Open, Swiatek has improved upon her performance in France from 2021, when she made QFs and took one step closer to emulating her success in 2020 when Swiatek claimed her first and only Grand Slam trophy.

Even though the road to the top won’t be easy, Swiatek has been displaying phenomenal form this season and has proven time and time again why she is the current no.1 women tennis player in the world. She has already set her career-best performance in Australia (SFs).

For Pegula, crashing out of the quarter-finals isn’t a terrible result, even though she would have definitely liked to show a bit more. Still, by reaching QFs, Pegula has tied her career-best performance at a Grand Slam – a QFs appearance at the 2020 French Open.

Kasatkina Takes Down Kudermetova In Straight Sets

The 2022 French Open quarter-final round was filled with one-sided affairs, although this might not be entirely fair to describe Kasatkina’s victory against Kudermetova, who she beat 6-4, 7-6 this Wednesday.

The world no.20 kicked off the match strong, and while there were some close calls, she eventually pulled through and took the first set 6-4, leaving Kudermetova on the back foot, hoping to bounce back in the second set. And Kudermetova did not hesitate to show her willingness to fight back.

The second set proved to be an extremely close one, but no matter what Kudermetova tried, she was always a step behind Kasatkina. Thew world no.29 didn’t take the lead until the 11th point when she went up 6-5, but it was all in vain.

Despite being given a golden opportunity to steal the set and force the game into the third, Kudermetova couldn’t overpower Kasatkina, who leveled the set at 6-6 with 15:40 and eventually closed out the second set with 7-5.

Despite her defeat, Kudermetova can still be proud of what she’s shown this season. She already made semi-finals in Australia and has now set her career-best placement at the French Open, improving her previous best of Round 3 from 2020.

Kasatkina, on the other side, has already exceeded everyone’s expectations by reaching semis. Her previous best placements at a Grand Slam were quarter-finals at the 2018 French Open and Wimbledon; however, she has since not come close to repeating that success.

Over the last three trips to France, Kasatkina has made the third round only once. Unfortunately, her next match will be the toughest so far, as Kasatkina has to face off against the current no.1, Iga Swiatek for a ticket to the finals.
