We are heading into the final few days of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, but there are still plenty of medals to be won before we get to the closing ceremonies.
We are going to do our best to get to as many of the major events as possible, so we are going to get the ball rolling by taking a look at the current state of the handball tournament on the men’s side.
My Analysis
If you guys have been paying attention to handball from the start, you may already have an idea of who you believe will win the gold medal. If, on the other hand, you have been waiting for the later stages, we have you covered.
We are going to quickly break down how all 4 teams made it to this point, after which we will make a betting prediction as to who we believe will move on, so let’s get to it.
^Germany -130 vs Spain +149
Friday at 10:30 AM EST | The handball tournament began with two pools of 6 teams, and it was Germany who emerged from Pool A as the leader.
They opened things up with a pair of comfortable wins against Sweden and Japan, but they ran into a tough opponent in their 3rd game, losing to Croatia in that one.
That defeat did not rattle Germany at all, as they bounced back to pick up wins against Slovenia and France.
They met France again in the quarterfinal and won a thriller 35-34.
It was very much an up and down pool stage for Spain, as they found it hard to get any kind of consistency going right from the off.
The opened with a low-scoring win over Slovenia before losing to Sweden. They bounced back from that one with a win over Japan before falling to the Germans.
Spain secured a quarterfinal spot with a tight win over Croatia. It was another close one in the knockout phase, with Spain getting past Egypt by a score of 29-28.
While it is always tough to beat the same team twice in a single tournament, I have to go with Germany for the win.

Denmark -769 vs Slovenia +636
Friday at 3:30 PM EST | I think at this stage of the proceedings it’s easy to say that Denmark are the favorites to go in and win the gold, but anything can happen in a knockout game, as we have already seen.
The Danes tore through the pool stage of the tournament, winning all 5 games and putting together a goal difference of +32 during that run. While it was a comfortable run to the knockout phase. Denmark had to work hard to get past Sweden with a 32-31 win.
It’s never easy to start a tournament with a loss, as it puts you behind the eight-ball right from the off. That is what happened to Slovenia, who feel to Spain their pool game opener.
They bounced back nicely, beating Sweden, Croatia, and Japan before falling to Germany is the final pool game. They actually made things look pretty easy in the quarterfinal, brushing Norway aside in a 33-28 win.
think that Slovenia is going to have a much tougher time here against the team that I ultimately think will win the gold medal, so I have to go with Denmark.

The Scandinavian rivals put on an absolute show!
Simon Pylick with 9 goals and 8 assists but it came down to a Nielsen save at the end
I don’t think anyone could handle another Extra Time 😮💨
