Horse Racing Odds, Picks, and Betting Analysis | November 21st Edition
Aqueduct | Saturday, Dec. 3
- Grade 2 Demoiselle – 1 1/8 miles dirt – 2 year old fillies
Connections for just three fillies have confirmed they will run in the Grade 2 Demoiselle. Anthony Dutrow puts the saddle on Tribal Queen, Robert Reid plans on entering Foggy Night, and Todd Pletcher goes with last out maiden winner Julia Shining.
Pletcher won this race last year with Nest, the 2022 Belmont Stakes runner up. So although just three horses have confirmed, we should expect plenty more talented 2 year old fillies to enter the starting gate.
- Grade 2 Remsen – 1 1/8 miles dirt – 2 year old colts
Plenty of talent will line up for the Remsen. Saffie Joseph Jr. trained Mr. Ripple, Street Sense sired Tuskegee Airman, and Danny Gargan trained Dubyuhnell should attract the most action.
New York based trainer Linda Rice plans on saddling Sleepy Hollow Stakes winner Arctic Arrogance. Second-place Sleepy Hollow finisher Quick to Accuse should also go in the Remsen.
- Grade 1 Cigar Mile – 1 mile dirt – 3 year olds & up
It seems like the Cigar Mile is one of the fastest run races of the year. Things shouldn’t change in 2022 because connections for some speedy horses plan on running.
White Abbario and Zandon, a couple of horses from the Triple Crown Trail, cut back in distance. Those two will knock heads with Baby Yoda, a 4 year old gelding trained by Bill Mott that finished second behind Double Crown in the Kelso Handicap in its last.
Double Crown should go. So should Peter Miller trained Get Her Number, the second place finisher in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby in July. The Cigar Mile is wide open. So make sure to sharpen your handicapping pencil.
Del Mar | Saturday, Dec. 3
- Grade 3 Jimmy Durante – 1 mile turf – 2 year olds
At least nine horses should enter the starting gate in the 1 mile Jimmy Durante on Saturday. No doubt, Chad Brown trained Private Credit will attract the most action.
Mike McCarthy trained Lollipop Gumdrop, Thebestisyettobe from the Phil D’Amato barn, and Graham Motion trained Palotta sisters will attract the most action. Showgirl Lynne B, Ragtime Rose, Sell the Dream, Quickly Park It, and Pleasant Wave should also run.
- Grade 1 Hollywood Derby – 1 1/8 miles turf – 3 year olds & up
East coast based trainers Shug McGaughey, Todd Pletcher, and Graham Motion will invade SoCal on Saturday to run in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby. Motion trains three possible starters: Even Harlan, Script, and Speaking Scout.
Shug goes with Hill Prince Stakes winner Celestial City. Todd Pletcher will put the saddle on Better Talk Now Stakes winner Wit. The local runners include Ron Ellis trained War At Sea, Cabo Spirit, and Clutch Hitter from the John Shirreffs barn.
