The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free-agent outfielder George Springer agree to six-year, $150M deal. The new deal makes the power-hitting former Houston Astros star the highest paid Blue Jay in franchise history, surpassing Vernon Wells’ seven-year, $126-million extension.

The Blue Jays are reportedly looking to sign veteran outfielder Michael Brantley, who, ironically, is represented by the same agency as George Springer.

The Los Angeles Angels agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with veteran left-hander Jose Quintana on Tuesday. Quintana previously pitched for current Angels manager Joe Maddon while with the Chicago Cubs. The southpaw was limited to only 10 innings in 2020 because of thumb surgery.

After watching the NFL’s draft combine morph into its own, huge annual showcase event, apparently Major League Baseball wants in on the combine idea! Although Major League Baseball’s amateur draft is less than six months away, the league wants to to host a medical combine-like event in June just prior to the draft. MLB gained the right to host a combine or combine-like event in either 2020 or 2021 last March as part of its agreement with the MLB Players Association.
Royals Make Under the Radar Signing
For the second straight year, the Kansas City Royals have brought back one of its former All-Star closers on a minor league arrangement. Kansas City announced Wednesday that they’ve signed veteran right-hander Wade Davis to a minor league contract. Davis is widely expected to be invited to spring training and to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster..
D-Backs Add Reliever
The Arizona Diamondbacks singed veteran right-handed reliever Chris Devenski to a minor league deal. The one-time All-Star appeared in four games during last year’s coronavirus-shortened season because of a bone spur in his throwing elbow.

Free-agent infielder Enrique Hernandez is drawing interest from multiple teams with the Boston Red Sox now potentially set to go all-in on the former Dodgers.
R.I.P Don Sutton
Hall of Fame right-hander Don Sutton, died Monday, his son, Daron, announced on social media. Sutton, who was 75 at the time of his death, was a longtime member of the Dodgers that won over 300 games in his career.
