Bellator 248 MMA Expert Analysis

Written by on October 9, 2020

Saturdayis going to be a bit of a historic day for Bellator, as they will be landing inFrance for the first time ever. Given the location, it’s a bit of a differentstart time than we are all used to, so you may want to mark your calendars. Themain card is set to go at 11:30 AM EST, which means that fans of the MMA on thewest coast may also want to set their alarm clocks. Bellator has stacked themain card with 5 fights and 2 main events. We have a lot of ground to coverhere, so let’s jump right into these Bellator matchups.

Ryan Scope (+215) vs Alan Omer (-275)

Themain card begins with a lightweight bout that features a pair of fightersheading in very different directions. Ryan Scope is sitting at 10-3 in his procareer, but those 3 losses have come in his last 4 fights, including back toback defeats ahead of this one. Omer, who is 23-5, is on a solid run of form, winning5 in a row ahead of this one. This will be his first foray into Bellator, but Ithink it will be a successful one. I am on Omer to finish Scope via submission.

Mads Burnell (-700) vs Danko Banovic (+475)

Wealways try to look for potential upsets when putting together these previews, but I don’t think we will find it in this featherweight bout. Burnell comes inas the #1 ranked fighter in the weight class in the UK. He has spent some timein the UFC, experience that should serve him well here. Banovic usually fightsat bantamweight, but he is making a move for this one. He seems to be seriouslyoutmatched here, which is why I am all over Burnell to win by submission.

Oliver Enkamp (-255) vs Emmanuel Dawa (+205)

Thewelterweights are next up in what looks like an intriguing battle. OliverEnkamp saw his time in the UFC end a few fights ago after losing both boutsthere, nut he seems to have found his way in Bellator, winning back to backfights there in the opening round. Dawa, whi has won 4 of his last 5 fights, will be making the move up to Bellator with this fight, but you have to saythat it looks like a tough start for him. I am looking at Enkamp to win by KO.

Cheick Kongo (-145) vs Timothy Johnson (+125)

Who isready for a rematch? That is what we are getting with the co-main event, withthe heavyweights going head to head for the second time. It was Kongo who cameout on top in the first meeting at Bellator 208, raining down punches onJohnson to get the first-round stoppage win. He is now on an 8-fight winstreak, with an NC in his last fight. Johnson lost again after the defeat toKongo, but he followed that up with back to back wins. Despite that, I think weget a similar result. Kongo by KO.

Michael Page (-435) vs Ross Houston (+335)

Theother headline event of the night is a welterweight bout that features an upand coming fighter in the division. That would be Ross Houston, with theScotsman coming into this bout with a perfect 8-0 record. This, though, is astep up in class, as this will be his first fight with Bellator. Page comesinto this bout as a rather heavy favorite and a 17-1 career mark. He hasbounced back with 3-straight wins after taking his first career loss. I thinkPage keeps it rolling with a KO win here.
