The Best Bets On this Week’s MMA Events

Written by on January 30, 2023

As February approaches on the calendar, there are still more thrilling MMA events that fans won’t want to miss. There are many betting opportunities for this week’s intriguing UFC and Bellator bouts. With two title fights at the Kia Forum, Bellator will be making their CBS debut. And a heavyweight match on UFC Fight Night will undoubtedly grab fans attention. So let’s dive into some of these MMA events and take a look at the top MMA betting matchups for this week.

Bellator 290 – February 4th

This weekend, Bellator 290 will also make a statement with their first-ever fights airing on CBS at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Three fights, including two title fights, are on the three-fight main bill. The first Bellator fight to air on CBS will be a welterweight contest between all-time Bellator victor Sabah Homasi (17-10 MMA) and Brennan Ward (16-6 MMA).

The main event will feature title fights between Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader (30-7 MMA) against legendary Fedor Emelianenko in the main event (40-6 MMA). At the age of 46, Fedor Emelianenko has chosen to retire from competitive mixed martial arts. His final match will be against Ryan Bader for the Bellator Heavyweight Championship. The two have already faced off in a title match in January 2019, with Bader defeating Fedor via TKO.

At Middleweight, champion Johnny Eblen (12-0 MMA) also squares off against Anatoly Tokov in the co-main event (31-2 MMA). Eblen was one of Bellator’s biggest surprises this year when he defeated Gegard Mousasi in a five-round title fight in June, going a perfect 8-0 in his Bellator fights. With a 7-0 record that includes five finishes since joining Bellator in 2017, Tokov will look to dethrone Eblen.

UFC Fight Night – February 4th

The card for UFC Fight Night Vegas 68, which takes place at the UFC Apex on February 4th, features the MMA events to look forward to this week. With heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Sergei Spivak serving as the main event, this UFC card promises to be another intriguing one.

The Heavyweight fight between Lewis and Spivak will undoubtedly be one of the more intriguing matches of 2023, despite the lack of a title on the line. Both fighters will be seeking a victory, and with a combined 28 knockouts between them, they aren’t afraid to engage in a brawl. Lewis’ position as an all-time UFC great will undoubtedly be cemented by a victory, while Spivak will aim to advance along the road to a potential title fight.

It’s also noteworthy that this fight event was originally scheduled to take place in Seoul, Korea, but was canceled due to a “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung injury. As a result, there are several talented Asian fighters on the program, including Jung Da Un (15-3-1) versus Delvin Clark (13-7). The flyweight contest between unbeaten rising prospect Tatsuro Taira (12-0) and unbeaten newcomer Jesus Aguilar (8-1) is one of the fights that fans should also have their eyes on.
