KSW 71 Ziolkowski vs Rajewski Event Info

  • When: Saturday, June 18
  • Where: Arena Torun, Torun, Poland

Artur Sowinski 22-13 vs Donovan Desmae 15-8

Before beating Anton Kuivanen at the EFM Show 2 last Sep. 11, Artur Sowinski had lost two straight, including dropping a split-decision to Sebastian Rajewski.

Like Sowinski, Donovan Desmae had lost two straight before winning his last. Desmae beat Lukasz Rajewski via a reverse triangle arm bar submission.

Sowinski won his last fight via majority decision. So it makes sense to lean towards Desmae.

KSW 71 Pick: Donovan Desmae

Filip Stawowy 9-2 vs Michal Martinek 9-3

Filip Stawowy has gone 6-1 straight up in his last 7 bouts. Stawowy is on a 2-match winning streak.

In his last, Stawowy beat Marcin Sianos via technical knockout after a barrage of punches. Stawowy has won all of his bouts via TKO, KO, or decision.

Michal Martinek started his MMA career winning 7 straight. Since then, Martinek is 2-3. Martinek has a ground game, but versus Stawowy, he may not get a chance to use it. Martinek’s last couple of losses have happened via TKO after elbows and punches. Stawowy is the play.

KSW 71 Pick: Filip Stawowy

Roman Szymanski 15-6-0 vs Valeriu Mircea 26-7-1

Szymanski has won 4-of-5. He’s a patient fighter. Szymanski will go for a decision victory unless the knockout presents itself.

Valeriu Mircea had lost 2 straight before knocking out Ayub Gaziev in the first round of their bout at Brave CF 52 in 2021. Both these mixed martial artists are good at what they do, but Szymanski beat Mateusz Legierski at KSW 65 in his last. Szymanski gets the nod.

KSW 71 Pick: Roman Szymanski

Jakob Wiklacz 12-3-1 vs Bruno Augusto Dos Santos 10-3-0

Wiklacz has won 8 of his last 9 bouts. The 1 loss, to Sebastian Przybysz, happened in 2020. Since the loss, Wiklacz has won 2 straight.

Dos Santos has lost 2-of-3, including his last bout. Sebastian Przybysz forced Dos Santos to submit after putting Dos Santos into an inverted triangle choke. Wiklacz has the edge both in the stand up and on the ground. He beats Dos Santos.

KSW 71 Pick: Jakob Wiklacz

Boris Mankowski 22-9-1 vs Daniel Torres 13-5-0

Mankowski is a streaky fighter. Twice during his career he has lost 3 straight. Both times, he bounced back with multiple wins.

Makowski lost his last bout, which isn’t a good sign. What also isn’t a good sign is that Daniel Torres has won 5-of-6. Torres gets the nod.

KSW 71 Pick: Daniel Torres

Marian Ziolkowski 24-8-1 vs Sebastian Rajewski 12-6-0

Ziolkowski versus Rajewski is going to be a great bout. Rajewski is 8-1 straight up in his last 9 bouts.

Ziolkowski has won 5-of-6. Both brawlers will give it their all in this. It’s tough to find a winner. But since we must choose, Ziolkowski is the pick.

At KSW 66, Ziolkowski beat Borys Mankowski via decision. In the fight before, Ziolkowski forced Maciej Kazieczko to submit via a rear-naked choke.

Then in the bout before that one, Ziolkowski beat Roman Szymanski via technical knockout with body kicks and punches. Ziolkowski appears to have a broader range of skills. He’s the pick to win the KSW Lightweight Title.

KSW 71 Pick: Marian Ziolkowski
