If you are an MMA fan and are looking for something a little different, then maybe it’s time to tune into the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL). This competition is broken up into several different weeks and includes a playoff and a championship battle in 6 different weight classes. This will be the 4th year in which the PFL has delivered this challenge and we get the ball rolling with Week 1, which is set to go on Friday night starting at 9 PM EST. This weekend, it will be the Light Heavyweight fighters who take to the octagon, with 4 big fights set to go on the main card, which will be held at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. We are now going to break down all 4 fights to see if we can come up with some PFL Betting picks for the Friday night battles, so let’s get to it.
MMA Betting Preview for Professional Fighter’s League Week 1
Miles Amos Vs Karl Williams
Both of these fighters are still relatively new to the professional fight game, but we have seen enough from both to know that this has the potential to be a great fight. Amos comes into this one with a 5-2 career mark and is the winner of his last 2 fights after a bump in the road saw him lose 2 in a row. Williams comes into this bout on the heels of a loss, but he had won each of his first 3 fights prior to that. I am leaning towards Williams getting the win here.
Travis Davis Vs Bruce Souto
The next fight on the card is one that looks like it might be a little one-sided, but the truth is that you just never know in this type of setting. Davis has had issues with consistency, going 10-5 in his career to this point. He has a couple of losses in his last 5 fights. Souto is 14-3 and on a fantastic run of form. In fact, you have to go back to 2015 to find the last time he lost, winning 8 in a row since then. I think Souto wins this one handily.
Alexander Poppeck Vs Tyler Johnson
To win something like this tournament, a fighter has to get on a consistent run of form. If that is indeed the case, then we have a definite favorite in this one. Poppeck is 12-3 overall and is coming into this fight on a 3-fight win streak. Johnson has been having a tough time of it of late and cannot seem to put together back-to-back wins. He has in fact lost 3 of his last 5 fights. I have to go with the man in form and take Poppeck to win.
Josh Silveira Vs Mohamed Juma
The final fight of the night looks to be another good one, with a pair of very good fighters set to square off. Silveira is putting it all on the line, as he comes into this fight with a perfect 7-0 record. He has won 5 of those fights by finishing them in the opening round. Juma lost the first fight of his pro career before winning 8 in a row, but he comes into this one on the heels of a loss. This is a fantastic matchup and I have Silveira taking it.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
