The 2022 version of the PFL continues on Friday night with the Welterweights and women’s Lightweights set to go to battle in Week 6 of the competition. These fights will give us a clearer picture of who will move on to the playoffs and who will need to come back for another crack next season. Remember, too, that there are potentially UFC places up for grabs, so there is a lot going on. All in all, we will have 6 fights on the main card, so let’s jump in to look at the PFL Betting Odds and make some predictions as we go.
MMA Betting Preview for Professional Fighter’s League: Welterweights & Women’s Lightweights
Jarrah Hussein Al-Silawi (+190) Vs Magomed Umalatov (-235)
This may be the first fight on the main card, but it has all the makings of a great one. Al-Silawi comes in on a 5-fight win streak, including a win in his opening PFL bout, where he picked up 3 points. It has been close to a year since Umalatov stepped into the octagon, but he returns with a perfect 11-0 record. I don’t think that layoff has an impact, as I like Umalatov by decision.
Larissa Pacheco (-435) Vs Genah Fabian (+335)
The ladies are up next, with one of these fighters looking to stay on top of the Lightweight standings. That would be Pacheco, who is coming off an opening round win in her first fight this season, going to 16-4 in the process. Fabian really needs this one after missing weight for her first fight against Julie Budd. She won that bout, but then got docked the points. I think she comes out on the losing end here.
Magomed Magomedkerimov (-540) Vs Joao Zeferino (+395)
If either of these guys is to move on to the playoffs, they need to get a win in this one. Magomedkerimov is coming into his first fight of this season after losing in the Championship fight last year. Zeferino was perhaps a little unlucky to lose his opening fight, going down via split decision in that one. I think this will be a triumphant return for Magomedkerimov.
Ray Cooper III (+600) Vs Brett Cooper (+450)
The 2-time defending champion in the Welterweight division is in trouble. Ray Cooper III came into this season looking for a threepeat, but he missed weight and lost his opening fight, leaving him with -1 points. Brett Cooper is also coming off a loss and has now lost 3 of his last 5. Look for the champ to bounce back with a comfortable win.
Rory MacDonald (-290) Vs Sabidou Sy (+235)
A playoff spot is very much up for grabs, with both of these men winning their opening fights. MacDonald did not take long to get his victory, with the opening round win in his first fight getting him the maximum 6 points. Sy also got the win, but he needed to go the distance and sits below the playoff line with 3 points. I think MacDonald continues to rack up the points.
Kayla Harrison (-4000) Vs Kaitlin Young (+1450)
This one might be serving as the main event of the night, but don’t expect it to last too long. Kayla Harrison has won back-to-back PFL titles and is a perfect 3-0 after winning her opening fight. Young is 12-12-1 and loser of back-to-back fights. She looks to be seriously outclassed here, so I expect Harrison to get the job done quickly.
