NASCAR 2021 CRC Brakleen 150 Betting Predictions

The 2021 Truck Series season rolls on this weekend with the Brakleen 150 at the Pocono Raceway and it’s an important one for the drivers who have hopes of making the playoffs. The race for the top spot certainly tightened up a little last week, but there is still plenty of time for the drivers sitting off the pace to make their move and take a run at winning it all. Whether someone begins to make that move this weekend remains to be seen, as there are several drivers who are in with a legitimate shot at nabbing the win. Let’s take a closer look at the current top 4 in the driver standings so you can bet against their NASCAR Truck Series odds.

NASCAR World Truck Series Betting Preview for the CRC Brakleen 150 Race

John H. Nemechek

After a brilliant run that saw him win back-to-back races, Nemechek came back to earth a little last weekend in Nashville with a 10th place run. While he would certainly have been hoping for better, it is now the 10th time in 12 races this season that he has finished in the top 10, with 4 of those being wins. You see that and begin to understand why he has the lead at the top of the driver standings and why he is one of the favorites to win every weekend. You need to go back to 2017 to find the last time he raced in the Truck Series at Pocono. He ended up finishing 4th in that one.

Ben Rhodes

Rhodes has finished in the top 10 overall in each of the last 4 seasons in the Truck Series, but the knock has been that he simply hasn’t put together enough wins to be considered a serious challenger for the title. He looked to have changed that this season after coming out and winning the first 2 races of the season, but he has not won since. He has had 3 podium finishes since then, though, and has been in the top 10 in 7 of the 10 races that came after his wins. He has been decent at Pocono, with 2nd being his best performance there.

Austin Hill

While it’s certainly not impossible, it is incredibly tough to win a championship without picking up a single win on the season. You look at Austin Hill and see exactly what I am talking about. In the 2019 season, he won 4 races, but still only managed to finish 5th overall. He is in the hunt again, sitting in 3rd overall despite failing to win a race yet this season. He has been on the podium 3 times, so it’s not like he hasn’t been close. Hill ran 2nd at Pocono last season, so definitely worth a look this weekend.

Zane Smith

Smith burst onto the scene in a big way in 2020, finishing 2nd overall in just his first full season in the Truck Series. He got 2021 off to a wobbly start with a pair of mediocre runs to start the season, but he has buckled down since then and landed in the top 10 in 8 of his last 10 races. Last season at Pocono, Smith finished 14th, so he will need a much better run if he is to maintain his current good form.
