If we could use one word to summarize what we have seen through the opening 5 weeks of the NASCAR season, it would most likely be unpredictable. There have been 5 different drivers taking the checkered flag, not to mention some of whom would very much be considered longshots. No driver is racking up the wins just yet, which may be good news for the fans, as that makes for a much more exciting season in the overall standings. This weekend, the drivers will be in Atlanta for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 and the opportunity to shake things up in the standings once again. Let’s take a look at some of the favorites to win this weekend, along with their NASCAR odds.
NASCAR Cup Series: 2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Odds & Picks
Kevin Harvick (+550)
The driver who won the most races last season is yet to get off the mark in 2021, but he has been in an around the leaders a lot. Harvick has landed in the top 10 in 4 of the 5 races so far this season, with 2 of those being top 5 finishes. That is enough to keep him in among the chasing pack in the overall standings, where he is currently sitting 7th. This might well be the weekend where he breaks the goose egg, as Atlanta Motor Speedway is a track that he loves, winning twice there in the last 3 seasons. He has also been in in the top 10 in 9 of his last 10 starts there, so a definite favorite.
Kyle Larson (+550)
After a 2020 season that was cut short due to suspension, Larson returned this season with no sponsors and a general sense that this might be an uphill struggle in 2021. That has not been the case to this point, though, as Larson has looked very good through the opening 5 races of the season. He is sitting in 5th in the driver standings after a pair of top 5 finishes and a couple more in the top 10. He has a trio of top 10 finishes in 6 attempts at Atlanta, with his best showing coming in 2017, when he finished in 2nd.
Martin Truex Jr. (+600)
Out of the favorites for this weekend, Truex Jr. has the distinction of being the one who already has a win under his belt this season. He has been very consistent through the opening 5 races and is certainly deserving of his current 4th place in the driver standings. Truex Jr. won last week in Phoenix and we are all well aware of how tough it is to win in back-to-back weeks, but he does always seem to perform well in Atlanta, finishing in the top 5 in each of his last 3 runs at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Brad Keselowski (+600)
Keselowski is still looking for his first win of the season, but he has certainly been knocking on the door, landing in the top 5 in 3 out of the 5 races this season. He is another driver that seems to enjoy hitting the track in Atlanta, as he has won 2 of his last 4 runs there. Given his current form and how well he does in Atlanta, he looks like a very good pick.
