We are now well into the 2021 NASCAR season, with the All-Star Race weekend now just a couple of weeks away. While that race does not signify the exact midway point of the season, it does come at a time when we have a much clearer picture of how the remainder of the season might play out. That said, there is still more than enough time for a driver to get hot in the second half and make the race to the playoffs that much more interesting. For now, everyone is focusing on Charlotte this weekend, so let’s start our coverage of the weekend action by taking a look at the Truck Series and the Education Lottery 200. We will do that by talking about the top 4 drivers in the standings and their chances of winning this weekend along with their NASCAR Truck Series odds.
NASCAR World Truck Series Betting Preview for the Toyota Tundra 225
John H. Nemechek +270
The last time Nemechek committed himself to a full season in the Truck Series was back in 2017, when he ended up finishing 8th overall. The experience that he has picked up from driving in other series seems to have paid off, as he is once again at the top of the NASCAR Truck Series driver standings after 9 races. He already has 2 wins on the season, but he is coming off a poor showing last week, although we can probably write than one off given that it was on a road course. Nemechek will be looking for a bounce back performance this week in Charlotte on a track where he finished 5th last time racing there.
Ben Rhodes +800
Rhodes continues to hang around at the top of the driver standings despite not being able to fully sustain the torrid pace that he set at the start of the season. Rhodes came into the new season on fire, winning each of the first two races. He has not picked up a win since then, but he has also only finished outside of the top 10 once in the 7 races since his last win. That is a level of consistency that will keep him at or near the top if he can maintain it. In his last 4 races at Charlotte, Rhodes has finished in the top 10 in them all, with 2 top 5 finishes among that lot.
Sheldon Creed +350
A week after getting his first win of the season, the defending Truck Series champion put in another solid showing at the Circuit of the Americas road course, finishing 5th in that one. If you look at what Creed did in his championship winning season, you see a lot of parallels with his performances through the opening 9 races of this season. It’ll be interesting to see if he can repeat what he did in Charlotte last year, when he ran 5th. He would certainly like the win, but a top 5 would keep him in the hunt for the top spot.
Austin Hill +600
It is very difficult to go through an entire season without winning and still hope to win a championship. Austin Hill is in the top 4 in the Truck Series right now and still looking for his first win of the season. To further clarify what we are saying here, Hill had a pair of wins last season and still only managed to finish 6th overall. He will look to get that first win in Charlotte, where he has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 2 races on that track.
