In the world of motor sports, things don’t get much better than what we have going on this weekend.
There is the Indianapolis 500, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, and another absolutely massive race in the Cup Series in NASCAR.

My Analysis
This weekend, the drivers are off to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600, which is a return to the important business after the All-Star Race last weekend. While last weekend was nothing more than a bit of fun with no points up for grabs, we still ended up with a fight in the pit area, which tells you these drivers are fired up and ready to go, regardless of the race. Expect more fireworks this weekend, but who will we see win? Let’s take a look at the NASCAR odds and what the bookies think.
^Kyle Larson NASCAR Odds +450
Larson heads into this weekend at the top of the driver standings, holding a 30-point lead over the closest driver. This is familiar territory for Larson, a former champion who is looking to add another title to his belt. Larson has already won twice this season and has landed on the podium in 3 other races. He is, though, coming off a pretty poor performance in Darlington in the last race on the Cup Series calendar, so he will want to bounce back from that and return to winning ways. He did not have a great run in Charlotte last season, but he did win this race in 2021.
^Denny Hamlin Cup NASCAR Odds +690
I don’t usually count the All-Star Race when talking about recent performances for drivers, but if we look that that race for Hamlin, you get an idea of just how good he has been over the past month or so. He finished 2nd in that one, which means he is on a run of 4 straight races finishing in the top 5. Hamling had 1 win during that stretch, taking the checkered flag in Dover, which means he now has a total of 3 wins for the season. While he had a poor showing here last season, Hamlin win this race the year prior.
^Tyler Reddick NASCAR Odds +790
If Reddickmis going to make something happen this weekend, he needs to break out of the mini slump that he is in, as he has now gone 3 straight races without cracking the top 10. He does have a win this season, with that one coming at Talladega, so he does have it in him to nab a checkered flag. That said, I still think a win might be beyond him this weekend, but he is certainly a solid pick to finish in the top 5. He has never been outside the top 10 in this race, so you may want to play it safer still and go that route.
^Ryan Blaney NASCAR Odds +940
It was an interesting type of season for Blaney last year, and you have to say that he is following a similar pattern in 2024. By this time in 2023, he has yet to win a race, but he got things rolling by winning the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. He then went on to win 2 more races, including the final race of the year in Phoenix, meaning he ended the season as the Cup Series champion. Will we see a repeat win this weekend.

2023 Coca-Cola 600
The serious business of racing was set aside last weekend for the All-Star Race, which ended with Kyle Larson winning it for the 3rd time in his career. In recent years, we have seen the winner of this this race go on and win the Cup Series, so might this be sign of things to come for Larson? It’s probably still a little too early in the season to make such a bold prediction, especially with so many races still to come before we even get to the playoffs. This weekend, the drivers will once again be in North Carolina, only this time, it will be in Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600. It’s never too early to continue racking up playoff points, so let’s look at the NASCAR betting analysis some of the drivers we expect to be in the hunt this weekend.

Kyle Larson
As nice as it was for Larson to get the win in the All-Star Race, he is going to need to parlay that success over into the regular season, where he has been a little up and down. He is not off to a terrible start by any stretch of the imagination, as he does have a couple of wins to his name, but there have been too many races where he has been well off the pace, which is why he finds himself down in 9th in the driver standings. Larson won this race in his championship winning season, setting off a 3-race win streak. Will history repeat this weekend?
William Byron
We are 13 races into the season and no driver has won more races than Byron. He has 3 checkered flags to his name this season, and while he is currently 5th in the driver standings, the projections have him finishing in the top spot at the end of the regular season. A lot can change between now and then, though, so he will be looking to maintain the pace he has set thus far. He did not have a very good showing in this race last season, finishing 32nd, but I think we can expect a whole lot better this time around.
Denny Hamlin
If you are of the belief that certain drivers seem to do well on a specific track or race, then you might want to take a long hard look at Denny Hamlin this weekend, as he won this corresponding race in 2022. Going one step further, the start he has made to this season is eerily similar to where he was at this time last year. Hamlin currently finds himself sitting in 4th in the driver standings, but that will almost certainly change if he can repeat his 2022 win in this race.
Martin Truex Jr.
Last season was the worst showing in the Cup Series for Truex Jr. since 2013, and at 42 years of age, you could be excused for thinking that his time in the spotlight might be ready to come to an end. There is still some life in the old dog yet, though, as he had a win in Dover a couple of weeks back and finds himself sitting in 6th overall. He has not been great in this race for a couple of years, but he did win this one in 2019, so he cannot be counted out.
