When the regular season in the Cup Series comes to a close, only 16 drivers will move on with a chance of ending the year as the champion.
There are now just 3 races remaining to decide which drivers will be taking part, starting with the FireKeepers Casino 400 this weekend in Michigan.

My Cup Series Analysis
Of course, we already know the majority of the drivers who will be part of the playoffs, but down near the cut line, there are still a few who are not entirely certain whether they will be in or out.
The good news is that most control their own destiny, but can they do what it takes to stay alive?
We are taking it one race at a time, so let’s start by looking at this Sunday’s race.
^Denny Hamlin NASCAR Pick +570
Despite being one of the most consistent drivers in the Cup Series, Hamlin is still in search of his first championship.
He is once again up among the leaders, sitting in 4th overall in the driver standings.
On the face of it, he has had a solid season, winning 3 races to this point, although it is worth noting that those wins all came in the first half of the season.
It has been a minute since his last win, which could make him a risky proposition in terms of betting to win, but he did finish 2nd in last week’s race.
He has also been on the podium in each of the last 2 races in Michigan, so a top 3 bet seems like a good idea.

Kyle Larson NASCAR Pick +590
If the regular season were to end today, Larson would end it in the #1 spot in the driver standings, but there are 3 races still to come and his lead at the top is a mere 5 points.
The ultimate goal of every driver is to win the championship, but they all love the idea of being #1 at the end of the regular season, so look for Larson to go all out to maintain that top spot over the final races of the season.
Larson has already matched his win total from last season, so he is on course for a championship. He has been good in Michigan, but a top 5 seems the safest bet.
^Ryan Blaney NASCAR Pick +700
After winning the Cup Series championship last season, Blaney came into 2024 with a ton of pressure on his shoulders.
That pressure seemed to weigh on him a little through the first half of the season, but he seems to be getting hot at the right time, winning 2 of the last 7 races to move into 5th in the driver standings.
It feels like Blaney is gearing up for another deep run this season, and when you consider that he has won on this Michigan track, he might be a good win bet this Sunday.
^Tyler Reddick NASCAR Pick +740
In terms of current form, few drivers have been hotter than Tyler Reddick. He is on a run of 6 straight races where he has finished no worse than 6th.
He does not have a win during that stretch, but it has moved him all the way up to 2nd in the driver standings.
Reddick does only have 1 win this entire season, so a risky bet to win this race.
He has also been poor on the Michigan track, so I’d be wary about betting on him at all.

There are a lot of great stories happening in the Cup Series right now, but I think it’s fair to say that the one everyone is keeping an eye on is the Chase Elliott situation. The former champion is essentially behind the 8-ball after missing 7 races this season through injury and suspension. He has been granted a playoff exemption, which means that he can still get in, but time is running out for him to make that happen. We are down to the final 4 races of the regular season, which means that time is running out quickly for Elliott, as well as all the other drivers currently sitting below the cut line. This weekend, the drivers will be in Michigan for the Firekeepers Casino 400, so let’s take a look at our current favorites to consider in your NASCAR betting odds.

Denny Hamlin
NASCAR Betting Pick: +620
The goal of every driver is to walk away at the end of the season as the champion, but it’s all about getting into the playoffs first. Hamlin had a bit of a shaky start to the season, but he has since put things together and comes into this weekend on a very good run of form. He won his second race of the year at the Pocono Raceway a couple of weeks ago, and then followed that up with a 2nd place finish in Richmond last weekend, all of which has helped him move up to 3rd in the driver standings. Hamlin has finished in the top 5 in his last 3 races in Michigan, so well worth a look here.

Kyle Larson
NASCAR Betting Pick: +690
When you compare what Larson is doing this season to how he performed in his championship winning year in 2021, he looks to be well off the pace. The reality, though, is that he is very much in this thing, coming into this weekend sitting 5th overall. His 2 wins this season came close together in the early part of the year, and while he hasn’t won since, he has done a good job of staying in races and racking up points. He has not been great over the last 2 races, and with a 7th place finish in this race last season, I might look elsewhere for the winner.

Kevin Harvick
NASCAR Betting Pick: +810
This is the final season for Harvick, who announced his pending retirement at the start of the year. He would love to go out on a high, and while he seems like a longshot to win it all at this point, it’s all about getting into the playoffs and hopefully making some noise. He has not won a race this season and is having a very similar year to what he did in 2022. If that holds, then we might be looking at the winner of this race, as Harvick won here last season in the first of back-to-back wins that launched him into the playoffs. Could this be the start of a run?

Martin Truex Jr.
NASCAR Betting Pick: +810
Given how things went last season, and his age, where Truex finished 17th and missed out on the playoffs, it seemed like his time in the spotlight might be about to come to an end. Truex has proven all the naysayers wrong, though, and heads into the final month of the regular season on top of the driver standings. He has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 2 races in Michigan, so he might be worth a look as a top 5 finisher on Sunday.
