As we head into another big weekend, you do have to say that NASCAR does a fantastic job of mixing things up over the course of a very long season. Besides the usual races, they have thrown in night races, dirt tracks, and several stops on road courses to challenge their drivers and keep fans entertained from start to finish. This weekend, with the running of the Kwik trip 250, it will be a return to a road course, which is something that is sure to make some drivers happier than others. The fact of the matter is that some are better equipped at handling these types of races than others, which is something that we see in the current odds for this race. Let’s now take a look at some of the favorites and their current NASCAR Betting Odds.
NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for Kwik Trip 250 Race
Kyle Larson (+570)
There are a lot of drivers who would love to be sitting in 6th in the driver standings at this stage of the season, but you can bet that Kyle Larson, the defending Cup Series champion, is not going to be pleased with where he is at. His lone win of the season came in Week 2, and while he has not won since, he has racked up enough points to be sitting in that #6 spot. He did not have a great run on this track last season, finishing 15th in that one, but Larson has a history of performing well on road tracks, so I would certainly not be ruling him out.
Chase Elliott (+590)
Winning a single race in the Cup Series is tough enough, but delivering wins in back-to-back weeks is about as difficult as it gets. Elliott is not a driver who racks up a ton of wins, but he is consistently in the hunt, which is why he is atop the driver standings at this stage of the season. He has 2 wins on the year, including a victory last week in Nashville. He is another one who does well on road courses, as witnessed by his win on this track in 2021. I might well be tempted to have a little flutter on Elliott this weekend, especially at these odds.
Ross Chastain (+710)
In his first full season in the Cup Series, which came last year, Chastain finished 20th overall, while failing to win a single race. It helped him improve as a driver, though, and he has taken a big step forward this season. Chastain comes into this weekend with 2 wins under his belt, which has him sitting a rather lofty 2nd in the driver standings. One thing worth mentioning here is that one of those wins came on a road course as the Circuit of the Americas, so look for him to challenge again on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin (+740)
Given that Hamlin has made it all the way to the final four in the last 3 seasons, it is more than a little jarring to see him sitting below the playoff line this late in the season. While Hamlin does have a couple of wins on the season, he has struggled to make any kind of impact in the majority of his races this season. He finished 5th in this corresponding race last season, so perhaps he can get closer to the playoff line with a win this weekend.
