NASCAR 2022 Cup Series: M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 Betting Favorites & Odds Analysis

We are at the stage of the season in NASCAR where everyone really starts paying attention to the playoff race. The drivers who are on the bubble will be well aware that time is running out and that picking up points of any kind is a good thing. Like in any sport, it’s all about getting into the playoffs, as you just never know what might happen after that. Getting on a roll now can carry over and lead to good things once the number of drivers with a chance to win it all is cut down to 16. There are now just 6 races left in the regular season, so we really aren’t overstating the value of points at this late stage of the game. Those final batch of races start on Sunday with the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. Who will come out on top in this one? Let’s take a look at some of the NASCAR Betting favorites.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 Race

Kyle Busch (+770)

You might look at the current form of Kyle Busch and wonder why the bookies have decided to install him as the race favorite this weekend. After all, he is on a run of 5 straight races where he has really only come close to cracking the top 10 just once. It would be easy to simply write him off, but you need to take a closer look at what he has done in recent years at the Pocono Raceway. Since 2017, he has won there on 4 separate occasions, so while he may not be running well at the moment, this might be the track that gets him back to winning ways. At these odds, he’s definitely worth a look.

Denny Hamlin (+820)

Given how good he has been in his time with the Cup Series, it is a little surprising to see Hamlin so far down the driver standings. He will almost certainly still be in the playoffs, but we all expect more from him than what we have seen this season. Hamlin does have a couple of wins on the season, so it is certainly not all doom and gloom. Furthermore, he won at the Pocono Raceway in 2020 and had a top 5 finish there last season, so, like Busch, this is a track where he does well more often than not.

Kyle Larson (+820)

Are we seeing a theme here yet? Like the other two drivers mentioned above, the defending Cup Series champion is, in the eyes of many fans, underperforming this season. Again, that is all relative, as he will be in the playoffs when they begin in September. Larson would, though, like to get some momentum going before then. He has not had a win since the 2nd race of the year, so he is long overdue for a checkered flag. He has had a couple of podium finishes in Pocono over the last few years, so worth a look.

Chase Elliott (+820)

The supposed theme of this piece goes right out the window with Elliott, simply because there is no driver hotter than he is at the moment. Elliott has been in the #1 spot in the driver standings for quite some time now, but he is opening up the lead and looks like a good bet to be the regular season champion. Over the last 4 races, he has a pair of wins and a pair of 2nd place finishes, which is a truly astonishing run of form. He has been a little bit hit and miss at Pocono, but it’s never a bad idea to play the hot hand, even if just wagering on a top 5 finish.
