Xfinity 500: Race Info and the season, Top 3 to Win & Final Pick in the NASCAR Cup Series

Next weekend will bring the biggest race of the NASCAR season, with the final race of the year set to go, but before we get to that, we need to figure out which 4 drivers will be in the Championship Round.

We already know that Joey Logano and Tyler Reddick will be in that final group, as they both win during the Round of 8.

Xfinity 500 Odds for NASCAR Race Sunday
1. Denny Hamlin | 4092 points
2. Kyle Larson | 4103 points
3. Ryan Blaney | 4072 points
4. Chase Elliott | 4067 points

My Cup Series Analysis of Xfinity 500

The final race of this round comes this weekend in Martinsville with the running of the Xfinity 500.

There are only 2 spots left up for grabs and 6 drivers competing for those spots. Among that group is a pair of recent championship winners in Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott, so you can bet that those guys are going to be fighting for their lives.

Let’s take a look at the current odds.

Denny Hamlin +470

After a run of 3 straight season where he went to the Championship Round, albeit failing to win, Hamlin is now in danger of dropping out of the playoffs in the Round of 8 for the third straight season.

He is currently sitting down in the #6 spot, but not that far off the pace being set by the top 4.

Hamlin has landed in the top 10 in 5 of the last 6 races, but he really needs a win, or perhaps even just a podium finish, to claim one of those final 2 spots.

You have to go all the way back to April to find his last win, but he did finish top 3 in this race last year. That might not be a bad way to go in this one.

Kyle Larson +470

Sitting outside the top 4 with just 2 spots left open is not where any driver would ideally like to be, but when you consider that Larson has a recent Cup Series Championship to his name, you understand that he is more than capable of dealing with this level of pressure.

In fact, some might suggest that he thrives on it. Larson has failed to crack the top 10 in each of the last 2 races, which is why he is currently outside the top 4.

Of his last 3 runs at Martinsville, he has a win and a 2nd place finish, so I think he is a good bet to win this weekend.

Ryan Blaney +580

It was a close call for Blaney last weekend, as he came about as close as it gets to securing a spot in the Championship Round, finishing 2nd.

You don’t get prizes for close calls, though, so Blaney still finds himself sitting outside the top 4.

He is another one that has gone a long time without a win, with his last checkered flag coming back in July.

Blaney won this race last season, so he is definitely worth a top 3 wager.

Chase Elliott +780

This whole season has felt like an uphill battle for Elliott, who missed a chunk of last season due to injury and suspension, all of which caused him to miss out on the playoffs.

Elliott has just 1 win to his name this season, but he has never really been a driver that racks up checkered flags, but he always seems to be among the leaders.

He might well need a win this weekend, and with a 3rd place finish in Martinsville earlier this season, he could be in the mix here.
