When compared to the other NASCAR Series, the truck season is a little bit on the shorter side, but all that does is make every race that much more important
MyBookie Stock | 2024 NASCAR Vegas Odds | NASCAR Truck Race Odds: Long John Silver’s 200
Any driver looking to make it into the playoffs can’t really afford to have an extended run of poor form, as picking up points is a must in order to make the cut. The playoffs are still a long way off, though, as we are currently just 5 games into the current season. This weekend, the drivers will be in Martinsville for the Long John Silver’s 200, which is set to begin on Friday night at 7:30 PM EST. We are still waiting for the odds to be released for this one, but we do still know which drivers are out to a fast start to the season, so let’s look at some of the guys that might be in the hunt om Friday night.
Corey Heim
It’s probably fair to suggest that Heim was not that happy to see the Truck Series have an off week last weekend, as he is out to a fantastic start this year. Of the 5 races this season, Heim has found himself on the podium 4 times, although he had to wait until race number 5 to get his first win of the year. It is worth noting that his lone victory came on the road course at the Circuit of the Americas, but that form suggests he is a good bet on any type of track. I would definitely be willing to wager on Heim making it 2 wins in a row given that he won in Martinsville last year.

Ty Majeski
After finishing 4th overall in his first full season with the Truck Series, the belief was that Majeski would once again be in contention in 2023. While he did make the playoffs, it proved to be a short-lived run, with Majeski eventually finishing 8th overall. He is looking to bounce back and make another deep run this season and he is off to a very decent start, sitting in 2nd overall in the early going. While Majeski has yet to take a checkered flag in 2024, he has been on the podium twice. He finished 4th in this race last season, so a podium finish on Friday would not be out of the question.

Tyler Ankrum
Ankrum made a promising start to his career in the Truck Series, but he quickly fell off the face of the earth and hasn’t really come close to the playoffs in each of the last 3 seasons. He is looking to change that in 2024 and is off to a good start, sitting in 3rd overall after the opening 5 races. He closed out the first 4 races with back-to-back top 5 finishes, but he had a poor showing on the road course in the last race. Can he get back to form this weekend?

Taylor Gray
Gray joined the fray on a full-time basis last season in the 4th race of the year, eventually finishing 15th overall. That experience appears to have served him well, as he is out to a solid start to the new season, sitting 4th through the opening 5 races. He got off to a bit of a slow start in Daytona, but he has not looked back since and is now on a run of 4 straight top 10 finishes, with 3 of those landing in the top 5.

2023 Long John Silver’s 200 Odds
We are 6 races into the new Truck Series season, but it already looks as though we are going to have an epic battle for playoff spots and the eventual championship. The wins have been spread out across several different drivers, including a couple of those who dropped in from the Cup Series, but we do have some drivers that are making an early impact in the NASCAR odds. This weekend, they will all be in Martinsville for the Long John Silver’s 200, which is set for Friday night at 7:30 PM EST. There are a bunch of different drivers who could be in with a shot at taking the checkered flag in this one, but we are going to focus on just a few that we like, so let’s get to it.
NASCAR Truck Series: NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race at Martinsville
Ty Majeski
Majeski closed out 2022 with a pair of wins in the playoffs, and while those victories helped him have a deep run, he came up a little short in the end, finishing 4th overall. He has yet to get his first win of the 2023 season, but you certainly get the sense that it is coming. Majeski has been extremely consistent and is now on a run of 3 straight podium finishes, all of which has him sitting atop the driver standings. He finished outside the top 10 in Martinsville last season, but that race came at a time when he was struggling. He looks a much better pick this time around.
Zane Smith
If you are looking for a Truck Series who knows how to get the job done, look no further than Smith. After coming close to a championship, Smith finally got the job done by winning it all in 2022. If anyone thought he might rest on those laurels, they are being proven wrong, as he has already picked up a pair of wins on the season, as well as a 2nd place finish in another race. He ran in the top 10 in Martinsville last year, but took the top spot there the season prior, so this is a track he likes. I might be willing to wager on him to win this weekend.
Ben Rhodes
Fir a driver that has a championship and a 2nd overall finish in the last 2 seasons, Rhodes in not a guy who wins a lot of races. He has won 3 over the last 2 seasons, but what he does so is consistently finish near the front and rack up points that help him move on once the playoffs roll around. It has been much the same story this season, with Rhodes landing in the top 10 in 4 of the 6 races to this point. He was in the top 5 in Martinsville last season, and I would be comfortable betting on a similar run this time around.
Matt Crafton
At 46 years of age, Crafton is probably in the twilight of his Truck Series career, which has been a good one, with multiple championships under his belt. He shows very little sign of slowing down, though, and is once again among the leaders in the driver standings in the early going. He does not have a win or a podium finish, but he has been in the top 10 in 3 of the first 6 races. He ran in the top 10 in his last 2 runs in Martinsville, so expect more of the same this weekend.
