Start your engines and prepare for the start of the new NASCAR season, which is coming this weekend. While the majority of the attention will be on the Daytona 500, it is worth remembering that there are a couple of other races coming this weekend. We have the Truck Series and Xfinity Series starting up in Daytona, so lots of action to wager on over the next few days. We will, of course, be covering all three races set to go at Daytona, but for the purposes of this piece, we are going to look at the Truck Series NextEra Energy 250. It’s always good for drivers to get out to a fast start, but who will do that this weekend? Let’s take a look at a few potential NASCAR Truck Series Betting candidates.
Truck Series: NextEra Energy 250 @ Daytona Odds Analysis | NASCAR Truck Series Betting
Ben Rhodes +1200
To call last season a breakthrough year for Rhodes is perhaps putting things a little mildly, as he did end the season as the Truck Series Champion. What is perhaps a little surprising is that he did that by winning just 2 races on the season, with neither of those wins coming in the playoffs. What matters here, though, is that both of his 2021 victories came in the opening 2 races of the season, both of which were at Daytona. While he was unable to pick up another win after that, he did land on the podium on 6 other occasions. Will we see a repeat at Daytona for Rhodes this time around?
John Hunter Nemechek +800
Speaking of breakthrough seasons in 2021, we also need to give some love to Nemechek. The fact of the matter is that heading into the playoffs, he looked like the driver to beat last year. He had picked up 5 wins over the course of the season, but things started to go south a little bit once we got to the bigger races. Nemechek posted a trio of podium finishes in the postseason, but it wasn’t enough to get him over the top. He had a podium finish at Daytona last season and will be coming into the new year feeling as though he has some unfinished business to attend to.
Zane Smith +1400
While Zane Smith has had back-to-back great seasons in the Truck Series, he will almost certainly still be a little disappointed at the final outcome of both. In his first 2 full seasons in the Truck Series, he has finished 2nd overall in the driver standings. That is a fantastic level of consistency, but you know that Smith will want to get over the hump and come away a champion this time around. He has not been in the mix at all in his previous runs at Daytona, tending to start the season slowly and build. Perhaps he can get the win this weekend and get off to a fast start,
Matt Crafton +1600
The 3-time former Truck Series champion has been one of the most consistent performers over the years in the Truck Series. In fact, going back to 2007, Crafton has never finished worse than 8th overall in the driver standings, so this is a guy who is always in the hunt late in the season. Daytona has not been a track where he has seen a lot of joy, but Crafton is one of those drivers that you count out at your own peril. I see him as a longshot here, but still worth a look.
