There are a lot of races to look forward to in the NASCAR Truck Series schedule, but it’s the ones that are a little different that tend to be the most exciting.
MyBookie Stock | 2024 NASCAR Vegas Odds | NASCAR Truck Race Odds: XPEL 225
We are getting one of those races this weekend with the XPEL 225, which takes place on the road course at the Circuit of the Americas as opposed to the oval tracks that we are so used to in the world of NASCAR. This is the 4th time that this race will take place on this particular track, with Zane Smith winning it in each of the last 2 years. Smith is now in the Cup Series, so unless he decides to drop in, we are going to have a new winner this season. Let’s take a look at the current top 4 in the Truck Series driver standings.
Tyler Ankrum
Ankrum is sitting atop the driver standings right now, but he is still looking for his first win of the new season. He has had a couple of close calls, though, and is coming into this one on the heels of back-to-back top 5 finishes, which includes a 2nd place run in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back. This is a whole different kettle of fish, though, as it is a road race, but you do have to say that it’s one where Ankrum might indeed be a factor given that he finished 4th overall in this race last season. Another top 5 finish appears to be a good bet here.

Corey Heim
After a 4th place overall finish last season, Heim came into 2024 as one of the prohibitive favorites to end 2024 as the Truck Series champion. He is proving the bookies right in the early going, as he has probably been the most consistent of all the drivers through the first 4 races of the season. He started the year with 3 straight podium finishes before landing in 6th in Bristol in the last race. All of that has him sitting in 2nd in the driver standings, while also making us feel like it’s only a matter of time before he gets his first win of the season. He finished 6th in this race last season and won a road race later in the year, so he is my pick to win this one.

Rajah Caruth
Caruth is still trying to find his way in the Truck Series after a 16th place overall finish in his debut season in 2023. It does seem as though he is very much on the right path, especially when you consider that he picked up his first career win at this level in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back. He landed outside the top 10 in this race in 2023, but he looks a much better driver right now, so it would not be a surprise to see him land in the top 5 this weekend.

Ty Majeski
A 4th place overall finish in 2022 made it look as though Majeski was on the brink of something special. He took a bit of a backward step last season, though, finishing 8th overall in the final standings. This season has been a bit of a mixed bag, but it does feel as though he needs to be considered a threat in this race. He was on the podium in this race last season, plus he won a road race later in the year.

2023 XPEL 225 Betting Analysis
It’s a star studded weekend at the Circuit of Americas in Austin, Texas. NASCAR runs the Echo Park Automotive Grand Prix on Sunday. Before the highlight event of the weekend, the Craftsman Truck Series revs the engine early afternoon on Saturday. Kyle Busch is the top choice followed by Alex Bowman and Zane Smith at co-second choice auto racing odds. Did any of the favorites make the picks list?
Let’s take a look at the NASCAR lines for the Truck Series XPEL 225 plus racing picks likely to be in the hunt this weekend.

2023 NASCAR Trucks Series XPEL 225 Picks
Top Pick: Alex Bowman
Odds: Alex Bowman +600
Truck #, Team: No. 48 | Hendrick Motorsports
2022 Position: 16th
Bowman drive a truck at Atlanta Motor Speedway last week. But Alex did step into his car for the NASCAR Cup event.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver finished fourteenth. Bowman has driven well in the last five NASCAR Cup events.
He finished fifth at Daytona, eighth at the Auto Club Speedway, third at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and ninth at Phoenix Raceway before the fourteenth place finish last Sunday.
For sure, Bowman can get it done on Saturday. The NASCAR odds make Alex a much fairer play than backing Kyle Busch.

Second Pick: Zane Smith
Odds: Zane Smith +600
Truck #, Team: Nos. 36/38 | Front Row Motorsports
2022 Position: 49th
The 2022 NASCAR Truck Series XPEL 225 winner didn’t have a great time in Atlanta last Saturday. Smith finished twentieth.
But that’s okay. Zane won the truck series race at Daytona. He then finished a decent second at Las Vegas.
Not only that, but although he ended up twentieth at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Smith won the pole. Zane, for sure, deserves a look to win straight up. Also, like Bowman, Smith offers much better odds than Busch.

Third Pick: Kyle Busch
Odds: Kyle Busch +155
Truck #, Team: No. 8 | Richard Childress Racing
2022 Position: 13th
One of the reasons Busch is such a low-priced chalk to win the XPEL 225 is because he is driving so well on the NASCAR Cup Series.
Kyle won at the Auto Club Speedway. He finished eighth at Phoenix Raceway and tenth in Atlanta last Sunday.
But although Busch is driving great, NASCAR Cup Series form doesn’t always translate to winning the truck series event. In addition, Kyle finished third in this last year. So the odds to win on Saturday make him an underlay.

Top Underdog Play: Christian Eckes
Odds: Christian Eckes +2500
Truck #, Team: No. 19 | McAnally-Hilgemann Racing
2022 Position: 8th
In three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races this season, Christian Eckes has finished in the top ten in all three.
At Daytona, Eckes finished third after starting fourth. Two races back at Las Vegas, Christian finished sixth after starting twelfth.
Then last Saturday at Atlanta, Eckes won the race. Christian drove well in this last year, finishing sixth. For sure, Eckes can win. Also, the +2500 odds are more than fair.
