In NASCAR, it’s tough to get to the top, with many drivers needing to get some experience at the lower levels before making it all the way to the Cup Series.
We have a good battle going on in there right now, and that will continue this weekend with the running of the Sci Aps 200 in New Hampshire, with this one set to begin at 3:30 PM EST on Saturday.

My NASCAR Xfinity Series Analysis
That is not to suggest that the Xfinity and Truck Series are easier to navigate, as we often see Cup Series drivers drop for a race or two, only to struggle against the guys that race in those other series on a permanent basis.
The goal is to make it all the way to the top to race among the best, so the push to win the Xfinity Series Championship is strong. Let’s take a look at the current top drivers.
^Cole Custer
Since coming into NASCAR at a very early age, Custer has bounced between the Cup Series and Xfinity Series, and for now, you have to say that he is where he needs to be.
Custer won the championship last year after making a return to the Xfinity Series and is once again sitting atop the driver standings. He is, though, still looking for his first win of the season, but he has been in the top 10 in each of the last 3 races.
He did not have a great run on this track last year, finishing outside the top 20, but I think he cracks the top 10 this weekend.
^Chandler Smith
When you are new to the sport, all you can hope to do is get better with each passing season. Smith had a solid outing in his debut season with the Xfinity Series in 2023, winning a race and finishing 9th overall.
He has already topped that win total with a pair of wins this season and is currently just a single point out of the top spot. He looks set to potentially move into the #1 spot in the driver standings, as he had a great run on this track last season, finishing 2nd. A similar run here, I believe.
^Austin Hill
Since making the move to the Xfinity Series from the trucks, Hill has had some success, but he has also had a hard time staying consistent throughout. Hill has made a habit of starting strong before seeing his season peter out over the course of the year.
He is following a similar pattern this season, failing to win after taking the checkered flag in each of the first 2 races. He has been good on this track, though, finishing on the podium last season and in the top 10 the year prior. I see a top 5 finish in his future.
^Justin Allgaier
Over the past 5 seasons, Allgaier has been to the Championship 4 times, so he is certainly a guy that knows how to stick around and be among the leaders. He is in striking distance again in 2024, sitting in 4th overall in the driver standings.
He only has 1 win this season, but this is a track where he might well be able to improve on that total, given that he won here back in the 2022 season.

2023 Ambetter Health 200 Odds
The end of the regular season is very much on the horizon now, but there are still enough races to come that drivers cannot get too comfortable with the current standings. There are a handful who will almost certainly, barring some major disaster, be in the playoffs but there are also some who are a little too close to the cut line for comfort. There are just 9 more races to go before the playoffs are officially decided, so there is still a lot that can happen between now and then. This weekend, the Xfinity Series drivers will be in New Hampshire for the Ambetter Health 200, and it is the usual cast of characters who will be seen as the favorites for this one. Let’s take a look at who might be in the running to win this race to bet on against their Xfinity odds

John H. Nemechek
NASCAR Xfinity Odds: +260
With the playoffs now fast approaching, the goal of every driver is to get hot and hope that their form carries over into the postseason. Nemechek is on a roll at the moment, winning and running 2nd in his last 2 races, all of which has helped him stay at the top of the driver standings. He will want to remain there, though, so look for him to put in another great run this weekend, but will that translate into a win? You have to go back to 2019 to find the last time he raced in New Hampshire at this level, and it did not go so well then. Expect much better this weekend.

Austin Hill
NASCAR Xfinity Odds: +2200
No driver got the 2023 Xfinity Series season off to a better start than Hill. He came charging out of the gate to win 3 of the first 5 races of the season, but he has not picked up another checkered flag since then. This is not to suggest that he has been a bust over the last few weeks, as he has still very much been in the hunt in most of the races he has run. In fact, he went on a run where he had 6 top 5 finishes in 7 races, so he is usually in the mix at the end. He finished 7th in this race last season, but I think a top 5 is manageable this time around.
Justin Allgaier
NASCAR Xfinity Odds: +410
When writing about sports, you have to try and be as impartial as possible, but it’s tough not to root for Allgaier to win a championship. He has been consistently good for over a decade, but a championship has eluded him to this point. He is once again in the hunt, sitting 3rd overall in the driver standings. He has had difficulty finding ways to win this season, with just 1 victory to his name, but again, he tends to be a good top 5 pick. He won this race last season, so it might be worth taking a shot on Allgaier.
Cole Custer
NASCAR Xfinity Odds: +640
We talked earlier about getting hotter as the season progresses, and that is exactly where Custer is right now. He is on a run of 11 straight races finishing in the top 10, but he has been even better in recent weeks, winning twice in the last 5 races. Custer finished 2nd in his last race on this New Hampshire track, so he is another one worth a look. In fact, I might be willing to go all in and take Custer to win this weekend.
