Xfinity Series Championship Favorites: Austin Hill, Cole Custer, Justin Allgaier & AJ Allmendinguer – NASCAR Odds 2024

For NASCAR fans, all eyes will be on Phoenix this weekend, as we all wait to see which 3 drivers will walk away as champions when all is said and done.

Yes, it is Championship Round weekend in NASCAR, with 3 separate races coming our way over what is sure to be an exciting 3 days of action.

Xfinity Series Championship Race | Odds for NASCAR Race Saturday
1. Austin Hill | 4000 points
2. Cole Custer | 4000 points
3. Justin Allgaier | 4000 points
4. AJ Allmendinger | 4000 points

My Xfinity Series Championship Race Analysis

For the purposes of this piece, we are focusing on the Xfinity Series Championship, with that race set to go on Saturday night at 7:30 PM EST.

There are 4 drivers left in contention, one of whom is the defending champion, as well as another who has been here many times before, only to come up short each time.

While someone other than the top 4 might win this race, we are going to look at the drivers in with a shot at winning it all and rating their chances, so let’s get to it.

Austin Hill +1400

Regardless of how all of this plays out, this season will still be seen as a positive one for Hill, who is in the final four for the first time in his Xfinity Series career.

He fell at the final hurdle in each of the last 2 seasons, so making it to this point is definitely a positive, although you can bet that he won’t be resting on those laurels and will be going all out to nab the championship.

He punched his ticket into the final round with a win, his 4th of the year, at Homestead a couple of weeks back.

He has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 4 runs on the Phoenix track, but he will need better if he is to win it all.

Cole Custer +330

Custer made a triumphant return to the Xfinity Series last year, winning the championship after deciding to move away from the Cup Series.

He is now on pace to make it 2 in a row, and we have to remember that he won this race last season.

He also ran 5th in Phoenix earlier this year, so I think it’s fair to say that this might well be a track that he enjoys racing on.

While Custer is on a run of 6 races without a win, he has been close in several of those races, and I believe that he is the one to beat this weekend.

Justin Allgaier +360

I am almost certain that there are numerous NASCAR fans out there who would like to see Allgaier finally win his elusive first championship.

Allgaier joined the Xfinity Series on a full-time basis in 2009 and has been to the Championship Round 8 times since then, failing to win a single one.

The law of averages would suggest that he is due for a win, but it is also tough to wager on a guy who has had that many chances and failed to win when it matters most.

I fear it may be more of the same this season.

AJ Allmendinger +1950

At 42 years of age, Allmendinger is beginning to get up there in years in comparison to other drivers, but he is obviously still racing at a very high level.

He has used that experience to stay alive all season long, picking up his first win of the season in the last round, which propelled him into the final four.

The fact that he has that lone win this year makes it tough to wager on him to win this one.

Odds to Win NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship
John H. Nemechek-120
Justin Allgaier+340
Cole Custer+400
Sam Mayer+560

John H. Nemechek

Nemechek has looked like the driver to beat all season long, winning 7 races and generally staying consistent from start to finish. With that in mind, it’s probably no real surprise to see him in as the favorite to win it all this weekend. He did have a bit of an off day in the previous race at Martinsville, but any time that has happened this season, he has bounced back with a strong showing in the next race. His last run in Phoenix came in 2021, where he finished 6th overall, but I think we will see better from him this time around. As I’ve already said, he is the man to beat.

Justin Allgaier

If you don’t have a driver that you actively root for week in, week out, then you might well be pulling for Allgaier to win this weekend. For more than a decade, he has been the most consistent driver in the Xfinity Series, yet he has never been able to take that final step and win a championship. He is once again in the hunt and is coming into this race with all the momentum after winning the previous race to close out the Round of 8 and punch his ticket into the Championship Round. He won in Phoenix in the 2019 season, while finishing 3rd there in 2022, so this is a track that he likes.

Cole Custer

Custer made his return to the Xfinity Series on a full-time basis this season and you have to say that it has been an inspired decision. He got off to a bit of a slow start, but he was solid during the middle part of the season, going on a run of 11 straight races with a top 10 finish. The issue he has at the moment is that he has not been good over the last 2 races, so you have to wonder if he can snap out of that and deliver a championship winning run. His last race in Phoenix was a 2nd place run.

Sam Mayer

In just his 2nd full season with the Xfinity Series, Mayer has made it to the final 4 with a shot at winning it all, but his inexperience may be what does him in here. That said, he does have a pair of playoff wins to his name, so he is handling the pressure really well. The bigger problem is that he has failed to even crack the top 10 in his previous 2 races in Phoenix. That seems like a lot to overcome when you see how well other drivers have performed on this track.
