My NASCAR Xfinity Series Analysis

In the early part of the season, the standings don’t really mean that much, but as we roll through the month of June, the playoffs are now clearly on the horizon, which means that every point now feels more valuable than ever. There is, of course, no real prize for finishing at the top of the standings in the regular season, but it does give the leading driver something of an edge heading into the playoffs, at least through the opening couple of rounds. Let’s see the Xfinity Odds for your weekend’s auto racing action!

John Hunter Nemechek Xfinity Race Pick +300

At the end of last season, Nemechek made the decision to make the move to the Cup Series after a fairly successful season in the Xfinity Series, where he made it all the way to the Championship Round. It has been a bit of a slog there in 2024, but he is dropping back down to this level for the Iowa race this weekend, as he looks to pick up his 2nd win of the season in the Xfinity Series. It is worth noting, though, that he has raced at this level 8 times this season and has only been on the podium twice, so certainly not a slam dunk.

Justin Allgaier Xfinity Race Pick +350

You have to regard Allgaier as one of the safest bets in the Xfinity Series, as he always seems to be up among the leaders on any given weekend. That said, it is usually the lesser prizes where he is the most trustworthy, as wins don’t always come easy. Allgaier has just 1 win in the 2024 season, but this might well be an opportunity for him to grab his second. He has been on the podium in each of his last 2 races in Iowa, one of which was a win, so he is certainly worth a look.

Chandler Smith Xfinity Race Pick +350

Since it has been a few years since the Xfinity Series was last in Iowa, picking Smith to win this weekend is a tough call, simply because we haven’t seen him racing on this track at this level. Still, there is a lot to like about what Smith is doing this season, as he already has a couple of wins to his name, as a total of 6 finishes in the top 5. It has been a minute since his last win, but I think taking him to land in the top 5 on Saturday might be a decent bet.

Cole Custer Xfinity Race Pick +710

As It stands at the moment, the Xfinity Series defending champion is on top of the driver standings, but there still has to be a little bit of concern that Custer has yet to win a race this season. In fairness, it took him some time to get his first win last season, and we all know how that ended, so perhaps it is not yet time to hit the panic button. If you look back on Custer’s races on this track, you get the sense that a win might be tough to come by this weekend, but a top 10 finish is not out of the question.
