Hard as it may seem to believe, once we reach the weekend, the calendar will have flipped over into the month of June.

My Analysis

That said, there are still plenty of races to come and time for things to change in the driver standings. The first opportunity for that to happen in the Xfinity Series comes this weekend at the Portland International Raceway with the running of the Pacific Automation 147. As you may have already guessed by the track name, this will be on a road course, so a very different challenge than usual. Let’s take a closer look at some of the drivers we expect to be in the hunt this Saturday at 4:30 PM EST.

Justin Allgaier Xfinity Pick +280

We have talked about Allgaier a lot over the years, and it is generally always the same conversation. In terms of wagering on him in individual races, he tends to always be a good bet, as he always seems to be up among the leaders. That said, he is not a safe bet when talking about winning a championship. Allgaier has come close on several occasions, but he has never been able to translate those close calls into a championship season. He is up among the leaders again this year, sitting in 4th overall, and this looks like a good race to play him in. He has finished in the top 5 in each of the last 2 seasons.

Cole Custer Xfinity Pick +900

After spending time in the Cup Series, Custer returned to the Xfinity Series last year with a lot of expectations placed on his shoulders. He got off to a slow start but eventually moved up a gear and ended the season as the champion. He has made a very similar start to the 2024 season, and while he is still looking for his first win, Custer has picked up enough points to be sitting in 3rd overall. His first win of the 2023 season came on this track, so he might be a good bet for a repeat.

Sheldon Creed Xfinity Pick +910

After a lot of success, including a championship, in the Truck Series, it still feels as though Creed is adapting to life at this level. This is his 3rd full season with the Xfinity Series, but he is still looking for his first win. He has been close to winning this season, landing in the top 5 in 4 races to this point. He finished 7th in this race last season, and I have a feeling he might do a little better this time around. While I wouldn’t play him to win, a top 5 finish seems okay.

Austin Hill Xfinity Pick +1400

Last season saw Hill get out to ana amazing start before he faded away over the course of the season, finishing 5th overall. He is following a similar pattern this time around. He won the first 2 races of the season, but he has yet to pick up another one, although he has been in the top 5 no less than 4 times over the past few weeks. I think top 5 seems like another good bet this weekend, as that is where he finished in each of his last 2 runs in this race.

2023 Pacific Office Automation 147

As we head into June, we draw ever closer to the start of the playoffs, although with 14 races still to come before we get there, we will definitely see some changes in the driver standings. It’s tight at the top right now, so expect there to be some lead changes between now and the start of the playoffs. For now, we are focusing on one race at a time, with the Pacific Office Automation 147 the next race up on the Xfinity Series schedule. This one will start at 4:30 PM EST on Saturday, with the event being held at the Portland International Raceway. This should be another great race, so let’s take a closer look the NASCAR betting analysis at some of the drivers who have a legit shot at getting the win.

John H. Nemechek

If you follow NASCAR at all, you know that Nemechek is a young driver very much on the rise. This is his first full season with the Xfinity Series, and he is already leading the way, picking up 477 points through the opening 12 races of the season. If you want to talk about consistency this season, you need to talk about Nemechek, who has a pair of wins and an astonishing 10 finishes in the top 10. This is a driver who always seems to be up near the front in every race. He did not take part in this race last year, but his current form makes him a solid bet.

Austin Hill

Hill made the move from the Trucks to the Xfinity Series last season and had himself a very decent first season, finishing 6th overall. While there are still plenty of races to come, Hill looks set to improve on that finish this season, sitting just 10 points back of Nemechek for the top spot in the driver standings. With 3 wins on the season, he has already bettered his win total from last season, and we can probably expect more wins before this season is over. Hill finished 3rd in Portland last season, so a very solid bet.

Justin Allgaier

Ask the average Xfinity Series fan who they would like to see win a championship and you can bet that Allgaier would get a lot of votes. He has been so close on so many different occasions over the years, but he is still awaiting that first championship. After a few podium finishes this season, Allgaoer finally got his first win of the year last weekend, and you can bet that he will be looking to build on that win. He was a top 5 finisher in Portland last year and I would expect more of the same this weekend.

Cole Custer

After spending a few seasons in the Cup Series, Custer made the move back to the Xfinity Series this season. Custer made a bit of a wobbly start to the season, but he appears to be rounding into form and is now on a run of 6 straight races finishing in the top 10. You do get the sense that his first win of the season is coming sooner rather than later, but will it be this weekend? I think he is a very solid top 5 finisher bet.
