Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Who will reign the NFC South? – Odds & Predictions 2024

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Who will reign the NFC South? – Odds & Predictions 2024

There is no such thing as an easy path to the playoffs, but the reality is that winning the division means not having to stress in the final couple of weeks, when the battle for Wild Card spots reaches fever pitch.

While we are now at the midway point of the season, very few of the divisions look clear-cut at this point, with the majority actually tighter than expected.

My NFL Betting Analysis in the Week 8

That is certainly the case in the NFC South, although it is quickly looking as though we might be getting a 2-horse race between the Falcons and Buccaneers.

The Carolina Panthers were never considered a threat, while the Saints have fallen off a cliff after a great start.

This game will not decide the division, but it will certainly help one of these teams get one step closer to winning it.

The Falcons are a 2 ½ point favorite, with the total set at 46.

Atlanta Falcons Odds -147

If you take a look at this Falcons team through their opening 7 games, you see a team that has been dominant in divisional games while struggling in other matchups.

They are a perfect 3-0 when going against teams from the South, but have gone just 1-3 outside the division, with the latest loss coming last weekend when they were absolutely dominated by the Seattle Seahawks.

While winning the divisional games certainly helps the cause, the Falcons need to find a way to start beating teams they are not quite as familiar with.

A bigger issue for the Falcons has been their play on the road, where they have managed just 4 wins in their last 17 games away from home.

While they are just 4-8 ATS in their last 12 overall, the Falcons have covered in 4 of their last 6 versus the Bucs.

The Falcons have seen the OVER hit in 4 of their last 6 visits to Tampa.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds +120

After winning 3 of their opening 4 games, the Buccaneers have gone off the boil just a little bit, losing 2 of their last 3, which included a loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

There are some bigger issues for the Bucs at the moment, though, as the injury bug is starting to take hold.

Mike Evans went down with a hamstring injury last week, after which we saw a brutal injury to Chris Godwin, which means that the Tampa offense is going to be severely depleted for this game.

Do they have the depth to play through this crisis, or are those injuries the beginning of the end for the Bucs this season?

This is a team that has been good in divisional games, winning 11 of their last 15 versus the South.

In terms of the spread, the Bucs are 13-7 ATS in their last 20 overall.

The UNDER has hit in 8 of their last 13 games at home.

Falcons at Buccaneers Betting Prediction in Week 8

This is a tough one to handicap, as it’s tough to know how Tampa is going to react to losing two offensive weapons for the indefinite future.

With that in mind, I am leaning toward the Falcons in this one.

Atlanta Falcons 27, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20
