Cardinals at Commanders Odds 2023 NFL Betting Odds in Week 1

This Sunday, the Washington Commanders will play host to the Arizona Cardinals in an eagerly anticipated National Football League showdown.

Washington belongs to the highly competitive NFC East, where they recorded an 8-8-1 record last season, ultimately finishing at the bottom of the NFC East standings. Notably, they exhibited impressive form during the preseason, securing victories in all three warm-up games.

On the other side of the field, the Arizona Cardinals had a challenging season in 2022, finishing with a 4-13 record and occupying the last spot in the NFC West standings. However, they displayed a more promising performance during this year’s preseason, winning two out of three matchups.

As the Cardinals and Commanders prepare to clash, football enthusiasts are eager to dissect the intriguing dynamics of this game. The NFL Odds Week 1 have Washington Commanders as the favorite and you can grab the Commanders at -7.

Commanders New Quarterback

In the upcoming Washington Commanders‘ games, they have opted for an unseasoned quarterback to lead their offense. The Commanders have officially named Sam Howell as their starting quarterback, choosing him over Jacoby Brissett.

Howell, a 22-year-old talent from North Carolina, was selected as the 144th overall pick in the 2022 draft’s fifth round. His limited experience in the NFL includes 19 passes thrown last season, resulting in one touchdown and one interception.

The running back duties will primarily fall on Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson, integral parts of the Commanders’ backfield last season. Robinson Jr. accumulated 797 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Antonio Gibson’s NFL player stats show 546 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Commanders have high expectations for Robinson Jr. this season, with him getting a chance to play a full National Football League schedule.

Washington’s receiving corps will again be anchored by the talented Terry McLaurin, who amassed 1,191 yards and five touchdowns in the previous season. Additionally, Jahan Dotson led the team in touchdown receptions with seven, adding another dimension to their passing game.

Low Expectations for Arizona in 2023

Expectations for the Arizona Cardinals have hit rock bottom as they grapple with the absence of Kyler Murray due to injury, leaving a significant void in their quarterback position. The backup options don’t inspire much confidence at the moment.

To bolster their offensive line, the Cardinals wisely drafted Paris Johnson Jr., an offensive tackle from Ohio State, in hopes of stabilizing their offense this season. Their second-round pick, BJ Ojulari, an outside linebacker from LSU, adds depth to their defense.

Kyler Murray’s star has dimmed significantly since the lofty preseason hype, which earned him votes in the NFL MVP race in previous seasons.

In his absence, Joshua Dobbs will take the reins. Dobbs, a 28-year-old alumnus of the University of Tennessee, brings limited NFL experience, having thrown 85 career passes with two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Arizona’s receiving corps may lack superstar talent, but Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore, and Greg Dortch will strive to make an impact. Notably, Marquise Brown becomes the top returning receiver following DeAndre Hopkins’ departure to Tennessee; Brown compiled 709 yards and three touchdowns last season.

In the running game, James Conner assumes the lead role, with Keaontay Ingram and Emai Demercado offering support. Conner enjoyed a solid season last year, surpassing 780 rushing yards and recording seven touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals at Washington Commanders Betting Prediction | Washington Wins Easily at Home

The Washington Commanders want to get off to a fast start and show they are a contender in the NFC East. This is a great opportunity. Arizona is going to be very poor, and it’s going to take their opponent to show them they are bad early on. Washington gets up early and does not look bad. Take the Washington Commanders -7 over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
