In this league, injuries are an everyday part of what teams deal with throughout the course of a season. The goal is always to try and limit those injuries as much as possible and to have guys ready to step in when their opportunity comes. That’s a little easier to do with certain positions on the field, but it gets a whole lot tougher when a starting QB goes down. Elite quarterbacks are not all that common and having on as a backup is a rare thing indeed. The Cowboys saw Dak Prescott go down early in the season, but he has been more than adequately replaced by Cooper Rush, who went 4-1 in his absence. Word is that Prescott will be back under center this weekend when the Detroit Lions come calling to the house that Jerry built. The Lions are trying to pull themselves out of a nosedive and will hit the road as a 7-point underdog. The point total for this one is set at 49. It’s time to take a look at both teams and how they stack up against each other so you can bet on their NFL Odds.
NFL Week 7 Betting Preview for Detroit Lions versus Dallas Cowboys

- TV: CBS
Why bet on the Detroit Lions
The Lions have been in the cellar for so long that we have come to expect very little from them at the start of every season. They are 1-4 heading into this weekend and are on a 3-game losing skid. All of that would have you thinking that this is the same old Lions, but the fact of the matter is that other than a blowout loss to the Patriots last week, Detroit has actually been very competitive. 3 of their 4 losses this season have been by 4 points or fewer, so with a little bit of luck, they could actually have a much better record. One of the biggest issues for Detroit has been their play away from home, as they are now winless in their last 6 road trips. As we already mentioned, the Lions have been somewhat competitive and have actually covered the spread in 10 of their last 14 games. The OVER has hit in 6 of their last 7.
Why bet on the Dallas Cowboys
With Dak Prescott going down in Week 1, things looked pretty bleak for the Cowboys, especially when considering they were coming off a loss. Cooper Rush stepped in and took control pretty quickly, leading the Cowboys to 4-straight wins before finally losing last weekend to the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles. Prescott is listed as questionable this weekend, but all signs appear to point to him coming back against the Lions. That’s something to keep an eye on, as we might see the lines change if he is announced as the starter. In terms of wins, the Cowboys seem to enjoy playing in the month of October, as they have won 6 of their last 7 in that month. They have also been a fantastic bet in conference games, covering in 14 of the last 18. Dallas has seen each of their last 5 home games fall UNDER the point total.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
The wager that I really like in this game is the UNDER. If Prescott is back, expect some rust, which could help keep the score down. That aside, I like Dallas to win and cover.
