It hasn’t been the best of weeks for the Washington Commanders. The team owner, Daniel Snyder, is at war with the other owners in the NFL. Starting quarterback, Carson Wentz broke his finger and will miss the next few weeks. And to top it all off, the Commanders have lost the last four of their last five games.
Things haven’t been going well for the Green Bay Packers, either. Their offense hasn’t been able to get things going. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t seem to have chemistry with his receivers, the offensive line has been a mess, and the running game hasn’t been what it should be. We almost forgot that the Packers just lost to the New York Jets.
Well, something’s gotta give on Sunday, as the Packers travel east to take on the Commanders. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming match between Packers and Commanders so you can bet against their NFL Odds.
NFL Week 7 Betting Preview for Green Bay Packers at Washington
Washington Commanders
Many fans are happy that Wentz is hurt. Many wanted Taylor Heinicke to be the Commanders starting quarterback, and now they’ve gotten what they wanted. The Commanders are coming off of a lackluster win over the Chicago Bears last Thursday night.
Offensively, the Commanders got a spark from Brian Robinson II last week. It was Robinson’s first game back after missing the first part of the season after being shot in the leg during an attempted carjacking. Terry McLaurin has been a disappointment this season. If you ask head coach Ron Rivera, the main reason the Washington offense has been struggling is because of the poor decisions made by Wentz.
Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been good this season. You can blame it on the receivers, the poor offensive line play, or the play calling, but Rodgers just hasn’t looked like himself all season. Many think that he’s just playing out the rest of his career in order to get the money from the huge contract that he just signed.
Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon haven’t been the factors that they were supposed to be. These two were supposed to be the focal points of the Green Bay offense, but that hasn’t played out yet. The young receiving group in Green Bay has shown flashes, but other than Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, the receivers haven’t gotten much done. Now that Cobb is hurt, someone will have to step up and take his place.
Defensively, the Packers have been really good this season. It’s the defense that has kept them in many of the games. We don’t see Washington being able to put up a lot of points against the Packers defense on Sunday.
Prediction
Green Bay is a 5.5-point road favorite on Sunday. In looking at the betting numbers, the Packers clearly have the advantage. Green Bay is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 October games, while the Commanders are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven October contests. Green Bay is also 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 matchups against other NFC teams.
Frankly, we just don’t see the Packers losing three straight games. Green Bay beats Washington by a touchdown to cover the spread.
