NFL: Panthers vs LA Rams Odds & Bettings Trends

Written by on October 13, 2022

When betting on the NFL, there are all kinds of individual prop bet available to bettors, with a lot of the money going on the coach to be fired first during the season. If you had Matt Rhule of the Carolina Panthers on your ticket, then you are a winner. The Panther parted ways with Rhule earlier this week after watching the team get off to a lackluster start. Fair or not, the Panthers will be heading west to face the LA Rams with an interim coach at the helm. While not quite as bad as in Carolina, the defending Super Bowl champions have some issues of their own and are currently sitting below .500 after the first 5 games of the season. In fairness, their schedule has been brutal, so this might be a chance to get back on track. LA is in as a 10-point home favorite, with the point total set at 41.

Why bet on the Carolina Panthers

With a 1-4 start to the season, it is probably not a huge surprise to see Matt Rhule out of a job, but in fairness to the head coach, he has had issues with the health of his QBs. The Panthers will be down to their third-string guy this weekend, with both Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield now out of commission. It’s hard enough to win in this league without trying to do it with a guy who would ordinarily never see the field, but those are the things that happen sometimes, and coaches are still expected to win. The bigger issue, though, is that the Panthers now have just 1 win in their last 12 games. They have also gone just 1-11 ATS during that run and have failed to cover in their last 5 games away from home. 5 of their last 7 trips to face the Rams have ended with the point total going UNDER.

Why bet on the LA Rams

There are some legitimate concerns about the defending champs, who are 2-3 heading into this weekend, particularly on the offensive side of the football. Stafford and the Rams have looked like a pale shadow of the team we saw last season, especially in the past 2 weeks, where they have lost twice and managed a mere 19 points combined in those two losses. Yes, this is a team with some injury issues, but we should still be expecting more from them. One thing that is positive is that they have won each of their last 5 games versus teams from the NFC South. In terms of the point spread, there is not a lot to like, as they have managed to cover just once in their last 6 games overall. The UNDER has hit in 6 of their last 7.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Sometimes, we will see a team have a positive bounce after seeing a head coach fired, but I’m not so sure that happens with the Panthers this weekend. I think they are onto a beating here, so I am taking the Rams to win and cover, plus I also like the UNDER.
