The Caesars Superdome is one of the loudest football venues in the league. The Saints fans always fill up the Dome and are one of the loudest fan bases in the NFL.
We failed to mention that they seem to be even louder in prime-time games, and that’s what we’ll see on Monday night as the New Orleans Saints will host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens currently lead the AFC North with a 5-3 record. The Saints are tied for second in the NFC South with a 3-5 record. Let’s take a brief look at each of the two NFL teams, and then we’ll give you our NFL Betting prediction for this week’s Monday Night Football game.
Can Baltimore Beat the Saint in the Big Easy? | NFL Week 9 Betting Picks
Baltimore Ravens
When you think of the Ravens, one name comes to mind, and that’s Lamar Jackson. Jackson could be the most dynamic NFL player in the league. This season, he has thrown for over 1600 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. Jackson is also the Ravens leading rusher, with over 500 yards on the ground.
We’re not sure who Jackson will be throwing to on Monday night, as Rashod Bateman has been ruled out for the season, Mark Andrews is questionable, and we’re not sure if DeSean Jackson will be ready to play. The Ravens’ rushing attack will have Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill leading the way.
Defensively, the Ravens have been inconsistent this season. At times this unit looks really good, while it struggles at others. We do know that they’re very good against the run.
They allow fewer than 100 rushing yards per game. We’ll see if the secondary can hold its own against a strong Saints passing attack. The addition of linebacker Roquan Smith will be a big help to the Ravens’ defense.
New Orleans Saints
The Ravens will see a familiar foe in Andy Dalton. Dalton has played well at times, but key mistakes by the quarterback have cost the team. The Saints passing attack ranks seventh in the league, so the weakened Ravens’ secondary could have some issues.
The New Orleans offense will heavily rely on running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara had a huge game last weekend, and he will look to keep the momentum going.
Defensively, the Saints have a formidable run-stopping group. They also do a nice job against the pass as well. This isn’t the same defense that we’ve seen out of New Orleans the past few seasons, but they seem to get the job done.
Prediction
The Ravens come in as road favorites, as the oddsmakers have made them 2.5-point favorites. Baltimore has some momentum coming into this one.
We expect to see the Ravens pound the ball against the Saints’ defense. They are at their best when they can establish the run. We think that Jackson and company will be too much for the Saints to handle.
Even though the Saints will be at home, and they’ll have a rowdy crowd behind them, they just aren’t good enough to stop the Ravens. This one will be a close game, but the Ravens will hold on to win by a field goal and cover the spread.
