NFL Week 16 Against the Spread Betting Picks, Odds, and Predictions

Week 15 of the NFL season proved to be another wild one, with shocking results, stunning comebacks, and the playoff race in both conferences tightening up even further. The number of teams that have clinched playoff spots climbed to 6 this past weekend, which means that there are now just 8 spots remaining. For those below the playoff line, the window of opportunity is closing on the brink of being slammed shut. The next 3 weeks of the season are going to be absolutely huge, and it all begins with Week 16, which is host to some great matchups. We have done our usual deep dive to come up with a trio of NFL Betting picks to play against the spread, so let’s get right to it.

Week 16 ATS Betting Predictions | 2022 NFL Odds

Detroit Lions (-3) at Carolina Panthers

The Panthers went into this past weekend knowing that they were in control of their own destiny in a very weak NFC South. By the time their game with the Pittsburgh Steelers was done, their playoff status was very much up in the air. Carolina saw their 2-game win streak come to an end, and now they have to face a Detroit team that is flying high after winning each of their last 3 games. Besides those wins, the Lions are now on a run that has seen them cover the spread in each of their last 7, while the Panthers are now just 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games. I like the Lions to win and cover on Saturday.

New Orleans Saints at Cleveland Browns (-3)

Both of these teams are mathematically still alive in the race for the playoffs, but it is the Saints who are in better shape given that they are stuck in the NFC South, a division that no team seems to want to win this season. Realistically, though, they probably need to win at least 3 of their final 3 games, and a trip to Cleveland certainly can’t be considered a slam dunk. The Browns are coming off a big win over their division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, and are still trying to adjust to life with DeShaun Watson under center. The Saints are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings with the Browns, so I think they might well be in trouble this weekend against a Cleveland team that has covered in 4 of their last 6 home games.

LA Chargers (-3 ½) at Indianapolis Colts

A nightmare season for the Colts just got a little worse this past weekend. They went up 33-0 against the Vikings and looked to be cruising, but they somehow managed to gas that lead and end up losing 36-33. Next up is a Monday night tilt against an LA Chargers team that is making a late playoff push in the AFC. The Chargers won their second straight game this past weekend and are now sitting in the #6 seed. They will want to seal their playoff spot and maybe overtake the Ravens at #5. The Chargers are a solid 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, but perhaps more importantly, they are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 meetings with the Colts.
