Olympics Betting Action

The 2024 Paris Olympics are starting to come to a conclusion, but there will still be some great action ahead.

Swimming and gymnastics are now done, but there will still be some great action on the track over the next couple of days.

The host country of France has had some success already at the Summer Olympics, and there is still a chance for that country to win some more medals.

This has also been an event that has seen a ton of upsets, and that’s something to keep an eye on as well.

Here is a look at how things have gone up to this point, and what you should be looking for over the next couple of days.

Medal Count Update

Through all of the events on Wednesday, the United States has taken a lead when it comes to the medal count at the Summer Olympics.

This was expected to take place, and there are still other events in which the United States will dominate moving forward.

Athletes from the United States have now secured 27 gold medals, and that is slightly better than the 25 gold medals won by China.

Australia has actually surged into third place in the gold medal count as that country has done a ton of damage in the pool.

When looking at the total medal count, Team USA has a commanding lead with 95 total medals.

China is next on the list at 66, but there is a massive gap between the two countries and the success that has taken place.

France has seen their athletes win 51 medals at the Paris Olympics, and that is a solid number for the host country.

The lead for the United States is only going to continue to grow moving forward as there will be more success on the track for Team USA.

Writer’s Picks on the Top Events on Friday

Basketball Still a Focus

The men’s and women’s basketball event is still a major focus at the 2024 Paris Olympics, especially now that there are just our teams remaining.

This is not going to be an event in which you will get a ton of betting value as there is a clear favorite to win the gold medal.

There is a good opportunity to bet on the men’s team from France to get to the gold medal game as they are five-point underdogs against Germany.

France has odds sitting at +1200 to win the gold medal, and it might be wise to take that bet.

Team USA is still a massive favorite to win the gold medal in men’s basketball, but there are some prop bets to check out.

Kevin Durant is at +224 to lead the team in scoring, and it would be wise to take those odds as he will pass up Anthony Edwards.

Betting on the top point scorer in the entire tournament is another great option, and there are some big names as favorites.

Here is a look at some of the top betting options to consider:

  • Franz Wagner +199

  • Nikola Jokic +250

  • Bogdan Bogdanovic +600

Those three players are from Germany and Serbia, and each country is guaranteed at least two more games.

Take Jokic to end this tournament with the most points overall as he will need to have a big game against Team USA.

On the women’s side of things, Team USA still has a great odds to win the entire tournament, and they continue to roll.

France is a 4.5-point betting favorite against Belgium in the semifinals on Friday, and it would be wise to bet on the home team to come away with a big victory.

There will be some prop betting options on the women’s side as well, but they will come out closer to the start of the semifinals.

A Look at Track Odds

The track and field action at the Paris Olympics is really starting to heat up, and that should be much of the focus moving forward.

There are still some big races set to take place, especially in some of the most interesting relays.

Team USA is a big favorite to win the men’s 4x100m relay at -280, but Jamaica is lurking with odds set at +234.

Since this is a race in which anything can happen, it wouldn’t be a horrible idea to jump on those odds and back Jamaica to get this done.

The men’s marathon is another race in which you should expect something crazy to happen, and the odds are tight for a number of runners.

This will be  race in which you can get some serious value, and taking Eliud Kipchoge at +300 is going to be a great wager to make.

The 4x100m women’s relay is going to be another race in which the United States is expected to dominate, but don’t be surprised to see a competitive race in this one.

Taking the United States with their odds at -575 is not even worth it, but you could look at another country for a chance to cash in.

Volleyball Odds Available

Volleyball is a sport that is played in many different forms at the Olympics, and there has been some great action taking place.

Beach volleyball is still a bit harder to predict at this time, but things are starting to shake out on the court.

Italy continues to be a big betting favorite to win a gold medal on the women’s side of things, but they have also been a bit shaky at times.

The odds for Italy to win the gold medal are sitting at -142, but now is the time to jump on the United States.

This is a team that has a ton of talent, and they now have odds sitting at +280 to come away with a gold medal.

WIth the semifinals set to take place soon, it’s time to take the United States as they will pick up a big win.

Be sure to follow the beach volleyball odds to be ready to make those bets as well.

Olympics Betting Action

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have been fantastic so far.

We have more Olympic action coming over the weekend.

Before the two busy days of Saturday and Sunday, there is plenty of action for Friday.

Here are our Olympics Friday betting action, with some of our favorite props for the events.

Writer’s Picks on the Top Events on Friday

Spain +9.5 over Canada: Men’s Basketball

This is a Friday game, and we expect this game to be a really good one.

Spain has a ton to play for, as they need a second win to get into the bracket play.

Canada is 2-0, and coming off the win over Australia.

We do not expect this to be a cakewalk for the Canadian team.

While they come away with a win, it is by single digits.

Spain gets a big game from Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama and competes on Friday.

Men’s Basketball: Gold Medal Odds

The United States continues to lead the way in Men’s Basketball.

The Americans are big time favorites at -675.

Canada comes in second at +790, while Germany comes in third at +1350.

France is listed at +1550 while Serbia is +1850.

The United States team has one more pool play game against Puerto Rico, and then will start the bracket play.

Canada has been strong, including a recent 10 point win over Australia.

This seems to be one sided, but we have seen the American team struggle at times.

Women’s Soccer: Gold Medal Odds

This is going to be a great race to the finish.

The United States look fantastic with wins over Zambia, Germany and Australia.

They are co-favorites to win it all, with Spain, both at +185.  Spain has been good defensively, allowing just a single goal through pool play.

These two teams are on a mission over the weekend, and into next week to meet up with a gold medal on the line.

Third is France at +500.

The tournament starts over the weekend, so we will see how it plays out.

Betting against Team USA does not seem like the right move.

We would take Team USA +185.

Women’s Track: 100 Meter Gold Medal Odds

The ladies are going to get on the track Friday in Paris and show some big time speed.

The 100 meter dash is going to be fun to watch.

Sha’Carri Richardson comes into the event as a big time favorite.

She is the fastest lady on earth, and barring a disaster will come away with the gold medal.

She is listed at -290! Next is Sherica Jackson of Jamaica, who is listed at +400.

Look for Richardson to be fully ready to go when the event comes up on Friday!

Men’s 10000 Meter Gold Medal Odds

The distance runners are going to get going on Friday.

The favorite coming into the event is Joshua Cheptegi of Uganda. He is listed at +150.

Second is Yomif Kejeclcha of Ethiopia.

He comes into the event at +250.

Look at the distance these guys run, and at the speed they do it in.

We like the Ethiopian to win this event.

We are going to take Kejelcha at +250 to win the 10000M on Friday!

Men’s 200 Meter Gold Medal Odds

The Americans are once again the favorites here in the 200 meter dash.

Noah Lyles is incredible at this event, and won the qualifying.

Lyles comes into the event as a massive favorite. He is listed at -475.

Second is American Kenneth Bednarek at +650, and even fourth on the list is Erriyon Knighton of the US. He is listed at +1200.

When push comes to shove though, the bet to make here is Lyles, even with it being less valuable.

It’s hard to imagine a scenery where Lyles loses.

Women’s 800 Meter Gold Medal Odds

This is going to be an interesting race.

Two times around the track in Paris.

Keely Hodgkinson is the favorite to win this event. She is listed at -340.

The runner from Great Britain has great speed and is an incredible pacer.

Nia Akins is the biggest favorite from Team USA.

She has a tough race ahead of her, as she is fourth at +2000.

In the end though, we are going to take Mary Moraa from Kenya.

She is listed second in the betting odds at +275, and has great value and plenty of talent.

Men’s Golf Gold Medal

While this starts on Thursday, there may be an opportunity to live bet this after one day on Friday.

Scottie Scheffler is the favorite, but when we go to bet on a winner, we are not taking the top player in the world.

Our bet for the gold medal is going to be Collin Morikawa. He is listed at +900.

If his odds are similar or even better after day 1, give him a look.

He is set up to make a nice run here in Paris.

Consider the odds and take a look at the men’s golf Friday morning.

Women’s High Jump Gold Medal

If you want to see some athletic women, check out the women’s high jump on Friday.

Yaroslava Mahuckikh is the favorite here at +122.

Nicola Olyslagers of Australia is second at +450.

We are going to go with one of the biggest stunners of the Olympic games here.

The Americans are going to steal a gold medal away here.

Vashti Cunningham is fourth in the betting odds to win this event, and that is who we are going to take.

Cunningham has the potential, and she puts it together to win on Friday. She is listed +2600.

Good pay out here, take a little risk and sit back and watch.

Olympics Affects Sports like NBA

Previous Betting News

The Washington Wizards are having a difficult time fielding much in the way of depth these days, thanks to a large number of injuries. Starting point guard John Wall has hurt his high right ankle five or six games in a row and may have to miss a few games as well. The Wizards are currently missing Drew Gooden (right calf), Nene (left calf), Otto Porter Jr. (left thigh), Gary Neal (lower back), Alan Anderson (left ankle) and Bradley Beal (lower right leg stress reaction). So even though the Wizards are rightly touted as one of the rising teams in the East, remember the big injury list before putting your good NBA betting money down on them.

Latest NBA Betting News and Rumors – Dec 24th

Barnes and Bogut Not Looking Good in GS

Center Andrew Bogut and forward Harrison Barnes are still on limited duty for the Golden State Warriors in practice, and there is no definitive word on their availability for games in the next week or so. Interim coach Luke Walton told CSN Bay Area, “Bogey did non-contact stuff in practice, so he’s kind of day to day right now. Harrison got in the conditioning transition drill, which is a contact drill. It’s nice to see him out there. We’ll just continue to see how he progresses and take it from there.” Barnes has missed 10 games with an ankle sprain. With Bogut out too, Marreese Speights could get an opportunity to expand his game exposure. Festus Ezeli has played well backing Bogut up, but with Bogut out, Speights stands to get some more time. It’s tough to bet against a 28-1 team, but be a little wary of this team as long as Barnes and Bogut are both out.

Kobe’s done after this year betting fans, that’s that

The Los Angeles Lakers will be the last professional team for which Kobe Bryant will don a uniform. He announced on Monday that he would not dress for any international teams either because his body is simply not up to the pounding anymore. He did tell the Orange County Register that he was excited about the chance to play in the 2016 Olympics. “It’s not something that I’m absolutely pressing for, but being a part of the Olympics is such a beautiful experience.” The Lakers aren’t the worst team in the league, but as long as Byron Scott makes keeping Kobe his priority, the team is not going to win and the young players aren’t going to get the seasoning they need.

The Clippers Need To Get Their Act Together In The West

The Los Angeles Clippers continue to scuffle along, as Josh Smith has lost his forward spot in the rotation to Cole Aldrich and is now a backup center. Doc Rivers told the Orange County Register, “I think we have to do a better job of getting them to buy in, understand. Some get it quicker than others but we’ve played a lot of games and now and they should.” Smith may be available via trade. Austin Rivers is likely to come back sooner than two weeks with that ankle sprain. For now, Pablo Prigioni is the backup point guard. Be wary of this Clippers team, as they are struggling against contenders in the West…and every team in the West, just about, is a contender.
