USA Vs Colombia Winning Predictions

The Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil are really just getting started, but the women’s soccer tournament is already about to bring its group stage to an end. This is because they started a couple of days early, and we now have the benefit of knowing which teams are actually deserving of their betting odds favorites status. The US have already locked up a place in the next round, but there is still some work to be done to ensure that they get an easier draw in the quarter-final stage of the tournament. In order to do that, they will need to get at least a tie in their final game of Group H, as this will land them on top and have them playing against a third-place group finisher in the net round. On paper, this looks to be a pretty easy game against a Colombia team that has underwhelmed so far, but the US ladies will be well aware that this is not a time to get too complacent.

Why bet on the USA

The US women team have surged to the top of their group with back to back wins, and they have done so in workmanlike style. We have become accustomed to seeing the US dominate the women’s game over the years, but it is becoming apparent that some countries are closing the gap a little. The US started with a 2-0 win over New Zealand, and then followed that up with a solid 1-0 win over a France team that has a legitimate shot at being on the medal podium. With 6 points in the bag, there is a good chance that the US may tweak the line-up a little to give some of their player a rest, as well as to keep their rotation in shape. Megan Rapinoe may finally get to see some action, but expect her time to be limited as she is returning from a major injury.

Why bet on Colombia

Anyone who follows the women’s game knew coming into this tournament that Colombia were going to be in trouble without their injured midfield playmaker Yoreli Rincon. That has proven to be the case, as they have lost their opening two games, failing to score in the process. They were thumped 4-0 by France, but could count themselves a little unlucky to lose 1-0 to New Zealand. The Colombians were the better team in that game, but their inability to convert their chances has put them in a position were moving on looks highly unlikely. They really are just looking at restoring some national pride here.

The last two meetings between these two teams have resulted in a pair of wins for the US, as well as an 11-0 goal difference. I don’t believe we are going to see that sort of one-sided affair here, especially if the US do switch up the line-up. Still a win, though.
