Betting on the Next PFL Super Fights

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) presents its pay-per-view of the year, ‘Battle of the Giants,‘ featuring a heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira.

This bout, held at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marks Ngannou’s return to MMA after more than two years.

The night is set to deliver a interesting matchup that is worth every $$$ that you put down, with Ngannou facing Ferreira, the reigning 2023 PFL heavyweight champion.

As both fighters bring their unique strengths to the octagon, this bout is not just about titles; it’s a testament to their skills and determination.

Writer’s Picks for PFL Super Fights: Ngannou vs. Ferreira: Main Card Bouts

Co-Main Event: Cris Cyborg vs. Larissa Pacheco

The co-main event features Cris Cyborg (27-2-1), a legend in women’s MMA, taking on Larissa Pacheco (23-4) for the PFL’s Super Fights title belt.

Cyborg, known for her knockout power, will be making her debut in the SmartCage against Pacheco, who has already proven herself by becoming the PFL’s first two-weight champion.

Cyborg comes into the fight with odds of -104, while Pacheco is a slight favorite at -144.

This matchup is expected to be highly competitive, as both fighters have tremendous striking ability.

Cyborg’s experience and aggressive style will be put to the test against Pacheco’s versatility and determination.

Middleweight Rematch: Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards

Johnny Eblen (Bellator middleweight champion) will rematch Fabian Edwards, with the odds favoring Eblen at -490 against Edwards’ +270.

Eblen is coming off a series of successful title defenses, and he considers himself one of the top middleweights in the world.

Edwards, however, is determined to avenge his previous loss and capture the Bellator middleweight title.

This fight is expected to be a tactical battle, with both fighters having a lot at stake.

PFL Pick: Fabian Edwards

Main Event: Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira

Francis Ngannou (17-3), once the baddest man in the UFC heavyweight division, returns to MMA after a two-year hiatus during which he tested himself in boxing.

Despite being new to professional boxing, Ngannou fought Tyson Fury in 2023 and almost pulled off an incredible upset.

His foray into boxing continued with a second high-profile bout against Anthony Joshua, where he faced the first knockout loss of his career.

Now back in familiar territory, Ngannou will be relying on his raw power and experience in the cage to defeat Ferreira.

Ngannou is currently listed as a favorite, with odds of -340, reflecting the confidence many have in his skills and ability to adapt to MMA after his boxing adventures.

He will need to bring his heavy hands and mix it up on the ground to counter the size and agility of Ferreira.

Renan Ferreira (13-3) is no stranger to facing dangerous opponents.

Ferreira is a towering presence with a height advantage over Ngannou, and his striking skills have proven to be deadly.

Ferreira has odds of +204 and is looking to add a major win over Ngannou to his resume.

He has already defeated former Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader with a quick knockout, and Ferreira’s powerful striking will be Ngannou’s biggest challenge.

However, Ferreira’s lack of experience in longer fights might be his undoing, and Ngannou could capitalize if the fight goes into the later rounds.

Our Pick to Win PFL Super Fights Is…

While Renan Ferreira presents a real threat with his striking and size, our pick for the main event is Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou’s experience in high-pressure situations, combined with his devastating power, makes him the favorite to win.

The odds of -340 reflect the belief that Ngannou’s return to MMA will be successful, especially if he can close the distance and take the fight to the ground where Ferreira has shown weaknesses.

Ngannou’s strategy will likely involve weathering Ferreira’s early aggression and looking for opportunities to land his powerful punches or take the fight to the mat.

If Ngannou can extend the fight into the later rounds, Ferreira’s conditioning will be tested, and that’s where Ngannou can capitalize.

PFL Pick: Francis Ngannou

How do PFL Odds Work? A Beginner’s Guide

Understanding PFL Odds: A Guide to Betting on the Ngannou vs. Ferreira Bout

PFL odds are expressed similarly to other combat sports.

They typically reflect the perceived probability of a fighter winning.

  • Positive Odds:
Indicate an underdog. For example, +200 odds mean a $100 bet would win $200 if the underdog wins.
  • Negative Odds:
    Indicate a favorite.
For example, -200 odds mean you need to bet $200 to win $100.

Factors Affecting Odds:

  • Fighter Rankings:
Higher-ranked fighters usually have shorter odds.
  • Recent Performance:
Fighters on winning streaks might have shorter odds.
  • Matchup Analysis:
The strengths and weaknesses of each fighter are considered.
  • Weight Class:
The weight class can influence odds, as some fighters may have advantages or disadvantages based on their size.

Example: Ngannou vs. Ferreira

  • Ngannou: -250 (favorite)
  • Ferreira: +200 (underdog)

This means that if you bet $100 on Ngannou to win, you would need him to win by a significant margin to profit $50.

Conversely, a $100 bet on Ferreira would win $200 if he upsets Ngannou.

Remember: Odds can change rapidly based on news, injuries, or public betting trends, so be on top of the latest odds before placing your bet.

PFL Odds & Betting Predictions: 2024 PFL Europe United Kingdom Best Fights to Win

Previous Betting News

The PFL is back for another round of action, with this week’s event taking place in Newcastle, England.

This is important for those of us on the other side of the pond, as it means an earlier start, with this event set to go off at Noon on Saturday.

My Analysis 2024 PFL Europe Regular Season: United Kingdom

If you want to take in all the fights, you can catch them on DAZN. All told, there are 6 fights set for the main card, with both the men and the women getting in on the action. Let’s quickly break down all 6 fights and make some PFL betting predictions as we go.

Shanelle Dyer vs Mariam Torchinava

It is the women who get the main card rolling, and you have to say that this looks like a good matchup. Dyer comes into this one looking to maintain her perfect record, which currently sits at 4-0. Torchinava is 9-2 overall and on a run that has seen her win 5 in a row. PFL Pick: I think this one goes the distance, with Dyer just edging it.

Dean Garnett vs Ayton De Paepe

Next up is a Bantamweight bout between a pair of fighters with very similar records and recent form. Garnett is 12-2-1 overall and comes into this fight having won each of his last 4. De Paepe is 12-4 and has won 4 of his last 5. PFL Pick: Despite this being close, I still think it will be Garnett who gets the decision win.

Lewis McGrillen-Evans vs Matiss Zaharovs

It’s another Bantamweight bout up next, and it looks like another good one. We are going to see what McGrillen-Evans is all about after taking his first professional loss last time out, falling to 8-1. Zaharovs went through a rough patch, losing 2 in a row, but je bounced back with 2 straight wins to get to 6-2. PFL Pick: I am leaning toward McGrillen-Evans here.

Jack Grant vs Charlie Leary

We have a pair of experienced Welterweights up next in what is an intriguing matchup. Grant is 19-8 overall, but it is worth noting that he lost his lone fight with the PFL. Leary is 17-13-1, and while he has not won much of late, he fought at a higher level with Bellator. PFL Pick: That said, I still think Grant comes away with the win.

Kane Mousah vs Dylan Tuke

We have the Lightweights up next and a pair of fighters who could probably use a win. Mousah is 14-6 overall, but he has also lost his last 2 fights and 3 of his last 4. Tuke is 7-4 overall, but he has been up and down of late, going 2-2 in his last 4 outings. PFL Pick: I think this one goes the distance, with Tuke getting the win.

Savannah Marshall vs Mirela Vargas

The main event of the night is a tough one to call, as it features a pair of fighters who don’t have a ton of pro experience. In fact, this will be a pro debut for Marshall in the UFC, although she has been a successful boxer. Vargas won her first pro fight but has since lost 2 in a row. PFL Pick: Let’s take Marshall for the KO win.
