PFL Challenger Series: Week 5 Betting Picks & Analysis for this Week's Fights

PFL Challenger Series: Week 5 Betting Picks & Analysis for this Week’s Fights

In any sport, the goal is always to rise up the ranks and become the best of the best. One of the toughest paths to the top is in MMA, with most fighters never getting to the UFC. They all continue to battle, though, which is exactly what you would expect, and fans love to watch the journey. If you are one of those who like to watch fighters climb the ranks, then you need to be tuning into the PFL Challengers Series. This event runs for 8 weeks, with different weight classes each week, with every fighter taking part looking for a shot at a PFL contract. We are heading into Week 5, with the fights set for Friday night at 9 PM EST on FuboTV. This week, it is the women’s Flyweights stepping into the octagon. Let’s take a quick look at the 4 fights on the card for your PFL Challenger Series Odds.

MMA Betting Preview and Picks for the 2023 PFL Week 5 Bouts

Helen Peralta Vs Lisa Mauldin

We get the evening started with a pair of fighters who have had some difficulty with consistency in their pro careers. Peralta has the better record of the 2 fighters, coming into this one at 6-3, but she does have 3 wins in her last 4, which is very decent form. Mauldin is 4-3 overall and is on a win one, lose one streak, coming off a loss last time out. I think we see this one going the distance, with Peralta getting the nod.

Maira Mazar Vs Desiree Yanez

The second fight of the night carries a similar theme to the first in that neither fighter has really been able to string together a solid run of form. Mazar comes into this bout at 8-5, but she also has just 2 wins in her last 5 fights. Yanez started pro life well enough, but she recently went on a 3-fight losing skid, which she broke with a win last time out to move to 6-4. Another one that goes all the way, with Yanez getting the decision.

Shanna Young Vs Sandra Lavado

We spoke about fighters trying to get to the UFC, but in this bout, we have one that has been there. Young spent some time at the top level, fighting in 4 UFC bouts and going 1-3 during that run. She comes in with an overall record of 8-5. Lavado is 11-3 and is winner of 4 of her last 5 fights, but she is going against a more accomplished fighter here, in my opinion. I like Young to come away with the decision.

Kaitlyn Neil Vs Katherine Corogenes

This one is listed as the main event of the night, and you have to say that it does look like a very good matchup. Neil has settled into a groove of late, sitting at 6-4 overall after winning 4 of her last 5 fights, which includes a win with Bellator. Corogenes is 3-1 overall and does have some PFL experience, although her lone bout at this level ended in a loss. This should be a good scrap, and while I think it goes the distance, I also think it will be a comfortable win for Neil.
