Imagine being handed a lottery ticket that has the potential to be valued at $1 million. That is what the fighters in the PFL Challenger Series are essentially looking at, as they have the potential to gain a contract into the PFL, which comes later in the year, with the top prize in each weight class set at a million bucks. As you might expect, each week of the series is split into weight classes, and as we head into Week 6, it is the Featherweights who will get their chance to shine and potentially move on.
Each week sees 4 individual fights, and given how things have gone to this point, we can probably expect at least one contract to be awarded. Let’s take a closer look at the PFL Challenger Series Odds for all 4 fights.
2023 PFL Challenger Series: Week 6 betting Preview and Analysis
Vikas Singh Ruhil Vs James Gonzalez
We get the evening rolling with a couple pf experienced fighters in very different runs of form. Ruhil is 12-6 overall, with 7 straight wins, if you ignore the No Contest that he had a few fights back. Gonzales has been a little up and down of late, going 3-2 in his last 5 fights to move to 9-5 overall. If you look at where these guys have fought in the past, the edge goes to Gonzalez, who I think will win by decision.
Ago Huskic Vs Gabriel Alves Braga
If we are being honest, we have to say that this bout looks to be a bit of a mismatch, but you just never know when it comes to fights. Huskic is sitting at 8-5 overall, but it has been a nightmare for him of late, as he comes into this one on a 3-fight losing skid. On the flipside, Braga has been perfect as a pro, putting other an 8-0 record. I think he keeps that streak alive with a decision win here.
Nate Kelly Vs Zachary Hicks
This one serves as the co-main event of the night, and it looks like a good one. Kelly started life as a pro by losing his first 2 fights, but he has since bounced back to win 6 in a row, which includes a win with the PFL. Hicks is 8-4 overall and comes in after winning 3 in a row, which came after a particularly rough run of form where he lost 3 in a row. I don’t see this one going all the way, and I have Kelly down for the KO win.
Brahyan Zurcher Vs David Evans
We close the night out with what looks to be a very good matchup. They haven’t had a ton of fights, but these guys have combined for just 1 loss. Zurcher is putting his unbeaten mark on the line, coming into this one at 4-0. Evans is 5-1, winning 4 in a row before taking his first loss as a pro, which he bounced back from to record another win. This looks to be very evenly matched and I have Zurcher in for the decision win.
