The wait for the next major soccer tournament is almost over, with the 2024 European Championships set to begin this coming Friday.

My Analysis for Group B

In total, 24 nations will be in Germany looking to go all the way to the final and win it. Of course, only one team can do that, and it all begins with the group stages. There are 6 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 automatically moving on to the Round of 16. Besides those 12 teams, we will also have 4 of the best 3rd place finishers in the group moving on, so 3 or 4 points from the 3 games that each team plays might be enough to get into the knockout round. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Group B, which many have down as the Group of Death.

Spain Euro Betting Line -110

One of the most successful teams in this tournament is Spain, who have win it 3 times since the inception of the European Championship in 1960. That includes back-to-back wins in 2008 and 2012. Spain made it all the way to the semi-finals the last time out and are looking to go one better this time around. This is a team that looks to be offensively gifted, scoring 13 goals in their last 3 games, which included a 3-3 tie against giants, Brazil in a recent friendly game. They are probably going to need that offense to be on fire in what is a very tough group.

Croatia Euro Betting Line +450

While the Croatians have made it to the World Cup Final in recent years, which they ultimately lost to France, they have not had a ton of success in the Euros. They are an aging squad, with Luka Modric at the heart of the team, very likely playing in his final major tournament. How much they can get out of their midfield talisman may well dictate how far they go in this tournament. Croatia is coming in on a good run of form, with their most recent win coming in a friendly against Portugal. I certainly like their chances of moving on.

Italy Euro Betting Line +250

Italy, come into Euro24 as the defending champions after beating England on penalties last time out. That was their 2nd European Championship title, with the other coming in 1968 against Yugoslavia, which Croatia was originally part of. History is very much against the Italians, though, as Spain are the only nation to have ever won it in back-to-back tournaments. This is not a team that is going to blind you with glittering offense, scoring just 5 times in their last 3 games, but they are always tight at the back. They should be able to move on.

Albania Euro Betting Line +3300

The odd team out in this group, judging by the odds alone, is Albania. Make no mistake about it, though, this is a team that very much deserves to be here. The Albanians finished qualifying at the top of their group, beating the Czech Republic on goal difference, while also finishing ahead of Poland. They come into the tournament on the heels of back-to-back friendly game wins, outscoring lesser opposition 6-1 in those games. They are not just here to make up the numbers, but this is an incredibly tough group that they will struggle to get anything from.
