EURO Cup Games For Friday: While some tournaments are tough to advance in, the European Championship is one that is somewhat forgiving in the group stage.

There are 24 teams at this tournament, 16 of which will move on to the knockout stages.

My Analysis

While every team has a shot at staying alive, the pressure is very much on for the teams that lose their opening game. 4 points in the group stage should probably be enough to secure passage to the Round of 16, but that opening game loss makes things a good deal tougher.

We are in the midst of the second round of group games, so let’s take a closer look at those that are on the schedule for Friday.

Slovakia +260 Vs Ukraine +110

Slovakia, come into this game sitting on 3 points that no one really expected them to get. They opened up their tournament against Belgium, who are considered to be among the favorites to make a deep run.

Slovakia took the lead and held on for dear life, seeing a pair of Belgium goals overturned by VAR, to record a historic win and put the next round very much in sight.

Things did not go so well for Ukraine in their opening game, as they were absolutely hammered by Romania in a lopsided 3-0 defeat. That is going to be hard to bounce back from, especially against a team that is still on a high after their big win.

A win for Slovakia would mean that they would be into the next round, which would also probably mean that Ukraine would be done. I don’t see Slovakia passing up this opportunity.

Poland +234 Vs Austria +115

This is a must win game for both nations, as both are coming into this one on the heels of a loss in their opening matches. For a while, it looked as though Poland were about to pick up a very valuable point against the Netherlands, but a late goal from Wout Weghorst helped the Dutch take a 2-1 win.

Austria also had a tough opening game against tournament favorites, France, but they played quite well despite losing 1-0 in the end. They are probably going to feel better about their performance and the way that played than the Poles are, which could give them the edge.

I expect a close one here, but at some point, these teams are going to need to open up and go for the win. I like Austria to get it.

Netherlands +222 Vs France +121

This is likely to be the game that decides who wins the group, assuming of course that it does not end in a tie. The Netherlands had to battle hard and come from behind to get a 2-1 win over Poland in their opener.

France is in a similar boat to the Dutch after winning their opening game against Austria, but they are likely to be without Kylian Mbappe, who left the opening game with what looked to be a broken nose. Losing a player of that quality is never ideal, but the French have a stacked squad.

A draw would suit both teams, but I’m not, so sure things pan out that way. I like France to edge it in a close one.
