LaLiga Lines for Matchday 16, Odds, Picks and Predictions for Best Games this 2024 Season

If you look at the current standings in LaLiga, you will see a little bit of an imbalance, which is because not every team has played the same number of games.

Now, there are some fans who will suggest that having games in hand over the teams ahead of them is a good thing, while others will point to their belief that it is better to have the points in the bag.

LaLiga Matchday 16 Analysis

Whatever the case may be, we have a full slate of LaLiga games coming our way over the weekend.

We have picked out a pair of games from the Saturday slate, as well as two more on Sunday.

We will do a quick preview of all 4 games and end each one with a prediction, so let’s get to it.

Real Betis +380 vs Barcelona -172 Draw +340

LaLiga Prediction: Real Betis 1-4 Barcelona
When: Saturday, December 7, 9:15 AM, ESPN+

After a pretty decent start to the season, Real Betis is now heading in the wrong direction after a nightmare run of form. They have gone winless in their last 4 games, drawing 2 before losing each of their last 2 outings. While home field might help them a little here, it is still not ideal to be going against the league leaders while struggling to get a win.

To be fair, Barcelona had a little rough patch of their own recently, picking up just 1 point from a possible 9 before breaking out of that with a 5-1 win over Mallorca last time out. This should be another win for Barca.

Girona +340 vs Real Madrid -143 Draw +290

LaLiga Prediction: Girona 0-3 Real Madrid
When: Saturday, December 7, 2:00 PM, ESPN+

Speaking of troubled times, things are not going very well for Real Madrid in both the league and the Champions League, with a lot of fingers being pointed in the direction of Kylian Mbappe, who is not really delivering the goods as expected. They did win 3 in a row before losing 2-1 to Athletic Club last week and are now 4 points off the lead, albeit with a game in hand to Barcelona.

Girona are sitting down in 8th, but they are on a good run of form right now, going unbeaten in their last 4 games (3W 1 D). They have had very little success versus Madrid, though, so more of the same here.

Athletic Club -108 vs Villareal +270 Draw +255

LaLiga Prediction: Athletic Club 1-1 Villareal
When: Sunday, December 8, 9:15 AM, ESPN+

If you follow LaLiga at all, you know that the title usually comes down to a 2-horse race between Barcelona and Real Madrid, just as is happening again this season. What that means is that there are usually only 3 more Champions League spots up for grabs, and as it stands now, Athletic Club is in the hunt for one of them.

They are in 4th and are unbeaten in their last 5, which includes 3 straight wins. Villareal is in 5th, 3 points back of their opponent on Sunday, but they also have a pair of games in hand. There is a lot to play for here.

Atletico Madrid -246 vs Sevilla +620 Draw +350

LaLiga Prediction: Atletico Madrid 2-0 Sevilla
When: Sunday, December 8, 2:00 PM, ESPN+

Another good matchup coming our way on Sunday, as Atletico look to maintain their spot in the top 3. They are 5 points back of Barcelona, but they do also have a game in hand. Atletico bounced back from a tough 1-0 loss to Real Betis, reeling off 4 straight wins and outscoring the opposition 10-1 in the process.

Sevilla is sitting down in 11th in the table and have been horribly inconsistent all season long. I’m not expecting much in the way of offense in this game.
