We are approaching the busiest section of the English Premier League season, with titles often won and lost during the madness that is the holiday season.

As I write this piece, we have a couple of games going off this afternoon, ending a busy midweek slate of matchups.

There is, though, no rest for the wicked, as we will have more games coming on Saturday and Sunday, with some very big ones included in the weekend schedule.

As we do every week, we are going to pick out 4 of the best games and give them a quick preview, followed by a prediction, so let’s get to it.

What better way to get the weekend started than with the next round of the Merseyside derby. This is the early game on Saturday, so some of you may need to crawl out of bed for this one, but it’s always worth it.

Everton are trying to pull away from the relegation zone and certainly helped their cause with a 4-0 thumping of Wolves in midweek, but even playing at home, this is a much tougher task. Liverpool lost some of their lead at the top of the league with a 3-3 draw in midweek against Newcastle in a game that they looked like they had won late. I think they pick up 3 points in this one.

We are only a couple of weeks into the Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United, and it is becoming abundantly clear just how big a task this is going to be for him. After a decent run of form in the first couple of games, United looked well off the pace in a 2-0 loss in midweek to Arsenal, a result that was not totally unexpected.

Can they bounce back at home against an overperforming Forest side? They might well be able to, as Forest seems to be falling back to earth rather quickly after losing 3 of their last 4 games.

Every week, it feels as though we have a London derby to look forward to, and this weekend is no different, with a pair of them coming on Sunday. The first one sees Fulham host title contenders Arsenal at Craven Cottage. Fulham is having a very good season and are currently sitting in 6th, as they make the push for an unlikely Champions League spot next season.

They are up against it here, though, as Arsenal looks to be rolling again after a bit of a rough patch, winning 2 in a row in the league to move to within 7 points of the top spot.

After a very promising start to the season, Tottenham has become one of the more frustrating teams to watch in the EPL, as you never really know what you are going to get from them. When they are on, they look great, as they did in a recent 4-0 win over Manchester City, which they followed up with a 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Chelsea are turning into an exciting team to watch, as they are all about attacking, so expect a wide open game here as Chelsea looks to close the gap on Liverpool.
