2024 Australian Open Quarterfinal Odds and Betting Picks

The 2024 Australian Open enters the second week of action with just eight players left in the men’s and women’s draws. While the men’s draw has gone pretty much as expected with seven of the top-10 seeds into the quarterfinals, there has been a few notable upsets in the women’s draw as Ons Jabeur, Elena Rybakina, and Iga Swiatek, among others, have been eliminated from the tournament.

Let’s check out some of the other highlights from Day 8 and Australian Open betting odds plus an analysis for the more exciting clashes in the Quarterfinals.

Men’s and Women’s Quarterfinal Day 10: Day: Tuesday, January 23rd at 11:00 AM – Night: Wednesday, January 24th at 6:30 PM
Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Day 8 Recap of the Fourth Round

The final four entrants in the men’s quarter-final were solidified on Sunday into Monday morning as Hubert Hurkacz, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev won their respective matches. Zverev had the most trouble, beating Cameron Norrie in five sets 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 3. The 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist is chasing his first career grand slam title, but has a tough test ahead against Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

The women’s quarter-finals also took shape over the weekend. Mirra Andreeva, a 16-year-old Russian sensation who knocked out Jabeur, had her cinderella run come to an end with a loss against ninth seed Barbora Krejcikova, who is into the quarters at the Australian Open for the second time in her career. Linda Noskova, a 19-year-old Czech player, is into her first grand slam quarter-final after her Round of 16 opponent, Elina Svitolina, was forced to retire in the first round.

Quarterfinal Betting Predictions

Jannik Sinner vs. Andrey Rublev

AO Lines: Jannik Sinner -425 vs. Andrey Rublev +275

Jannik Sinner has arguably been the most impressive player in either draw at the 2024 Australian Open. The 22-year-old Italian hasn’t lost a set yet and has seemingly carried over the momentum – and confidence – from leading Italy to victory in the 2023 Davis Cup. He’s also 4-2 in six career matches against Andre Rublev and should be a lock to win this match and punch his ticket to the semi-finals, where he would play the winner of Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz.

Alexander Zverev vs. Carlos Alcaraz

AO Lines: Alexander Zverev +300 vs. Carlos Alcaraz -550

Carlos Alcaraz has also cruised through the first week of action down under and is surprisingly into his first quarter-final at the Australian Open. It’s tough to see him losing to Zverev with the way he has played thus far, but it’s worth noting that Zverev is actually 4-3 in seven career matches against Alcaraz. However, Alcaraz won the last two matches between the two players, including a straight sets victory in the 2023 US Open

Barbora Krejcikova vs. Aryna Sabalenka

AO Lines: Barbora Krejcikova +425 vs. Aryna Sabalenka -800

Barbora Krejcikova, a French Open champion, is seeking her second career grand slam title, but is up against defending Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka. With many top seeds out, this tournament appears to be up for the taking for either Sabalenka or Coco Gauff, who would potentially meet in the semi-finals. Sabalenka is 5-1 in six career matches against Krejcikova and has been on court 4 hours and 22 minutes fewer through four matches.

Australian Open Lines: Top Quarter-final Games to Bet On 2023

Previous Betting News

Heading into play on Monday, the Australian Open is down to the final eight on both the men and women’s draw. With the quarterfinals set, there are both overall betting opportunities available and individual match opportunities.

The top two seeds in both draws have been eliminated already. On the men’s side, No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas is the top seed remaining, but No. 4 Novak Djokovic remains the overall favorite. Djokovic is listed at +110, with Tsitsipas at +300 and everyone else at least +700.

On the women’s side, American Jessica Pegula is the highest seed remaining at No. 3, and she is in the top half in action on Monday. No. 5 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 20 Karolina Pliskova are the two seeded players remaining in the bottom of the half, and they will both face unseeded opposition in the quarters. Sabalenka is the favorite to lift the trophy at +260, with Elena Rybakina at +320, Pegula at +330, and everyone else at least +1100. Let’s have a look at the top Quarter-finals games for today so you can place your bets against their Australian Open Odds.

Australian Open Lines: Top Quarter-final Games to Bet On 2023

Sebastian Korda -141

This should be the most competitive match of the day and the only one of the first four quarterfinals to have a favorite under -150. American Sebastian Korda, son of 1998 Australian Open champion Petr Korda, is the MyBookie favorite at -141. Russian Karen Khachanov (+111) made the 2022 U.S. Open semifinals and is looking for a second straight grand slam final four.

The No. 18 seed at this tournament, Khachanov steamrolled to a straight-set win in the round of 16, and he’s dropped just two of 14 sets so far in Melbourne. He grabbed a big four-set win over No. 16 Frances Tiafoe in the third round and won the first two sets 6-0 on Saturday.

Korda had to go the distance in a strange match over No. 10 Hubert Hurkacz. After dropping the first set, he cruised through the next two sets before dropping the fourth set 6-1. Korda and Hurkacz went back and forth in a wild fifth set before the American won in a tiebreaker 10-6.

Korda won his previous two matches in straight set sweeps, and he’s already knocked off the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds in this bracket. This is the first quarterfinal at a grand slam for the 22-year old who took a set off Djokovic but lost the final at the Adelaide International earlier this month.

Korda is 2-1 lifetime against Khachanov with a straight-set win in Belgium in October and also in Cincinnati in August. Khachanov eliminated Korda in five sets in the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2021. This one should go the distance but look for Korda to come out on top and an over 40.5 games bet (-110) is also a strong play.

Jelena Ostapenko +180

Both Rybakina (-207) and Jelena Ostapenko (+180) are coming off huge upsets in the round of 16. Rybakina knocked off No. 1 Iga Swiatek 6-6, 6-4, and she took down No. 13 Danielle Collins in a three-set match in the third round. Ostapenko, seeded 17th, beat No. 7 Coco Gauff in straight sets in her first match against a seeded opponent.

This is the best run at Melbourne Park for Ostapenko, who won the 2017 French Open and reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2018. This is the fourth grand slam quarterfinal for the Latvian native, but her first in five years.

Rybakina had never been past the third round at the Australian Open but also has a grand slam title, winning at Wimbledon last summer. This is her third grand slam quarterfinal and her first outside of Wimbledon.

Rybakina is a powerful player with a big serve and strong baseline play. Ostapenko will compete with her from the baseline, and both will go for the big winners and aggressive playing style. The difference is in the serve where Ostapenko isn’t in the same league as Rybakina, but that was the case against Gauff and didn’t matter.

These two haven’t faced each other since the summer of 2021. Ostapenko won both of the previous matches in straight sets, one on the hard court and one on grass. This match should go three sets, and both players are grand slam winners, but taking the money line with Ostapenko is the way to go here.

2023 Australian Open Predictions & Betting Opportunities | Tennis Odds

Previous Betting News

Tuesday brings the second day of quarterfinals action at the Australian Open, with the overall favorites on both sides of the draw in action. The men’s draw also features an All-American clash that will provide the first U.S. male in the Australian Open semifinals since 2009. Let’s have a look at the remaining quarter finals matchups along with their Australian Open Odds.

2023 Australian Open Predictions & Betting Opportunities | Tennis Odds

Djokovic on Historic Run

Betting on the favorites to win their matches is a tough ticket. Nine-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is -800 as the No. 4 seed to beat the No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev (+460). Djokovic has won 25 straight matches at the Australian Open, and he’s lost just one set at this tournament, coming in a tiebreak.

Djokovic is looking for a record-tying 22nd grand slam title, and he’s 12-1 in his last 13 quarterfinals with a loss at the 2022 French Open. In his career, Djokovic is 9-3 in the quarters in Melbourne, and he’s then gone 9-0 in the semifinals and 9-0 in the finals.

Rublev is 0-6 in grand slam quarterfinals, including a loss at the 2021 Australian Open. He has made it to the quarters in three straight slams but is yet to reach a semifinal. Rublev has lost three sets at this tournament, one in a tie-break, and he defeated No. 9 Holger Rune in five sets last round.

Djokovic is 2-1 lifetime against Rublev, with wins at the last two ATP Finals in straight sets. Rublev’s lone win came in three sets on clay last summer, and he will be hard-pressed to end Djokovic’s mammoth Australian run.

Sabalenka on a Mission

Aryna Sabalenka is the odds-on favorite to win the Australian Open at +230. The No. 5 seed is -409 to win her quarterfinal match against unseeded Donna Vekic. She hasn’t lost a set yet at Melbourne Park this year and knocked off a pair of seeded players to reach the quarters for the first time at this event.

Sabalenka is 3-0 in her career in grand slam quarterfinals, with two wins in the U.S. Open and one at Wimbledon. Vekic lost in the quarters in the 2019 U.S. Open, and this is only her second career quarterfinal.

Vekic has had a dream draw so far, only facing one seeded player in her first four matches. Ranked No. 34 in the world, Vekic has lost just two sets this far in Melbourne, one of those in a tiebreak. She is 5-1 lifetime against Sabalenka, including a win at the Tokyo Olympics, and four of the matches have gone 3 sets, all wins for Vekic. The best bet here is to have this match go three sets again, but Sabalenka wins.

Paul Favored in American Battle

The last time an American male made the semifinals at the Australian Open was Andy Roddick in 2009. That will change in the next 24 hours as Americans Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton go head-to-head in the quarterfinals. This is the first quarterfinal for both players and just the second-ever slam for Shelton, the 2022 NCAA singles champion.

These two have never met, and both are having tremendous tournaments. Paul has dropped two sets, one in the second round and one in the fourth round. He is favored to win the semifinal at -270 after beating the No. 30 and No. 24 seeds in the last week.

Shelton, who’s father is a college tennis coach at the University of Florida, hasn’t played a seeded player yet in Australia. He had to go five sets to win in the first round and again in the fourth round, and he’s +202 to beat Paul in the quarterfinals.

Shelton hasn’t faced a top-50 player, and it will be interesting to see how he handles the nerves of a grand slam quarterfinal. Paul, 25, has more experience on the big stage as a professional. Shelton’s serve, which topped 140 mph in the win over J.J. Wolf, will look to keep the points short and use his power against Paul.

At +220, Shelton is worth a bet to win this match and reach the semifinals, where he’d be a massive underdog against either Djokovic or Rublev.

Tennys Sandgren vs Roger Federer

2020 Australian Open Odds: Sandgren +579 / Federer -1428

Tennys Sandgren has shown immense heart. In the second round, he outlasted Matteo Berrettini in a 6-set throw down. Although he beat Sam Querry in straight sets in Round 3, he required 7-sets to win the fourth round. The Round 4 win was over Fabio Fognini.

Playing so many sets puts Sandgren at a disadvantage against Roger Federer. FedEx required 7-sets to get past John Millman. He got back on his game versus Martin Fuscovics in a 4-set victory. That’s enough of a reason to back Roger.

Tennis Betting Pick: Roger Federer

Milos Raonic vs Novak Djokovic

2020 Australian Open Odds: Raonic +454 / Djokovic -909

Novak Djokovic doesn’t have a walk in the park on Tuesday. Djokovic faces one of the better tennis players on the planet in Milos Raonic. Although Novak hasn’t lost a set at the Aussie Open since the first round, Raonic will test him in the quarterfinals. Milos has won back-to-back matches versus Stefanos Tsitsipas and Marin Cilic. But, Djokovic is 9-0 in the head-to-head against Raonic. Novak wins.

Tennis Betting Pick: Novak Djokovic

Stan Wawrinka vs Alexander Zverev

2020 Australian Open Odds: Wawrinka +112 / Zverev -156

Based on the odds, most feel this is the most competitive match on the men’s side at the Aussie Open. Stan Wawrinka required 6-sets to upset 4-seed Daniil Medvedev. But he got the win. Still, battling 6-sets against a pro like Medvedev would tire any player out.

That gives Zverev an edge in this. Alexander hasn’t lost a set since the first round. He bested Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in Round 4. He’s at the top of his game. If Wawrinka hadn’t battled so hard in the fourth round, he’d be the play. But he did fight hard. Zverev gets the nod.

Tennis Betting Pick: Alexander Zverev

Rafael Nadal vs Dominic Thiem

2020 Australian Open Odds: Thiem +208 / Nadal -312

Nick Kyrgios pushed Rafael Nadal to the limit in Round 4. Nadal beat Kyrgios in 6-sets. Often, a tough match wouldn’t faze Rafael Nadal. But on Tuesday, he battles Dominic Thiem, a chief rival.

Thiem has 4 wins over Rafael Nadal. Rafa has beaten Dominic 9 times. That means the favored player wins in the head-to-head. But, again, Nadal required 6-sets to get by Kyrgios. Thiem beat Gael Monfils 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. Dominic Thiem upsets Rafa in the Aussie Open Quarterfinals.

Tennis Betting Pick: Dominic Thiem

Ashleigh Barty vs Petra Kvitova

2020 Australian Open Odds: Barty -147 / Kvitova +106

Few top seeds have dominated the way Ashleigh Barty has. An Australian from Ipswich, Barty has mowed through her first 4 opponents. She did lose the second set 1-6 to Alison Riske in the fourth round, though. But Ashleigh bounced back with a huge 6-4 third set.

Barty has played great, Petra Kvitova has played better. The lone set she lost, 6-7 (4-7) versus Maria Sakkari in Round 4, fired her up. Kvitova proceeded to dominate Sakkari 6-3, 6-2.  Kvitova lost in the finals last year. She’s determined to win the Aussie Open this year. Back Petra.

Tennis Betting Pick: Petra Kvitova

Sofia Kenin vs Ons Jabeur

2020 Australian Open Odds: Kenin -243 / Jabeur +171

Sofia Kenin impressed in her fourth-round win over Cori Gauff. The 15-year-old played well to take the first set 7-6 (7-5). But then Kenin rolled Gauff 6-3, 6-0. Kenin’s play impressed so much that she’s an underlay against Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur knocked out Qiang Wang in her last. Wang, who bested Serena Williams in the third round, appeared tired. Not to take anything away from Ons. But Jabeur faces a young American who’s starting to feel like she can’t lose. This tournament could be the one that puts Sofia on the map. The chalk takes this.

Tennis Betting Pick: Sofia Kenin

 Anett Kontaveit vs Simona Halep

2020 Australian Open Odds: Kontaveit +173 / Halep -250

Simona has a tendency to struggle in the quarterfinals of major tournaments. That won’t happen versus Kontaveit. Halep hasn’t lost a set at the 2020 Australian Open. She’s won her last 3 matches in straight sets. Also, Anett required 4-sets to beat Iga Swiatek in her fourth-round win. Halep is fresh while Kontaveit might be tired.

Tennis Betting Pick: Simona Halep

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Garbine Muguruza

2020 Australian Open Odds: Pavlyuchenkova +154 / Muguruza -222

Garbine Muguruza enters her quarterfinals match versus Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova after 2 straight victories over Top 10 seeds. Garbine beat 5-seed Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-2. In Round 4, she knocked out 9-seed Kiki Bertens 6-3, 6-3.

Anastasia has played 9-sets in her last couple of matches. She battled Angelique Kerber for 5-sets in her fourth-round win. She should get tired during the second set. Muguruza sends Pavlyuchenkova home.

Tennis Betting Pick: Garbine Muguruza
