Betting Men’s French Open
The men’s draw at the 2024 French Open has been incredible.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic showed incredible perseverance to win his Round of 16 match and earn a spot in the quarter-finals, but withdrew due to injury and, as a result, lost his No. 1 ranking to Jannik Sinner.
The 2024 Australian Open champion, Sinner, is into the semi-final playing his 10th career match against rival young star Carlos Alcaraz.
In the other semi-final, it’s a clash between Alexander Zverev, who is looking to get into his first grand slam final since the 2020 US Open, and Casper Ruud, a two-time runner-up at Roland Garros.
The French Open has witnessed a rollercoaster ride of upsets and dominant performances. While the ATP rankings provide a baseline, French Open betting odds offer valuable insights beyond current form.
Semi-Final Matches
The semi-finals at Roland Garros take place early Friday morning, with Alcaraz and Zverev as the slight betting favorites.
However, don’t expect the favorites to come out on top in both matches. Both Sinner and Alcaraz were dealing with injuries coming into the French Open, with Alcaraz experiencing pain in his forearm for quite some time.
That will be worth monitoring, especially against Sinner, who has lost just twice in 35 matches this season.
Sinner and Alcaraz have split their two matches on clay court and Alcaraz holds a 5-4 advantage in their nine career matches.
Sinner has been dominant thus far, losing only one set in five matches and only going to one tiebreak.
Alcaraz has also only lost one set and been to two tiebreakers through five matches.
Sinner, however, is the best pick here, especially considering the plus-money odds and the fact he is 33-2 this season.
Ruud, meanwhile, is a good upset pick in the second semi-final.
He has consistently been among the best clay court players in the world for the last few years, but lost twice in the French Open final to Djokovic.
Now, with Djokovic out of the tournament, he must be feeling like there’s a good opportunity to win his first career grand slam. Ruud is 2-2 in his career against Zverev and beat him in three sets in the semi-finals of last year’s French Open.
He might have to work a little harder this time around, but that shouldn’t be a problem as he has been on court for about four hours fewer than Zverev.
French Open Final Prediction
There’s a lot of intriguing storylines heading into this weekend at Roland Garros.
Sinner could win the first two grand slams of the season, Alcaraz could be an Australian Open title away from a career grand slam, or Zverev or Ruud could win their first grand slam.
It might be a longshot, especially in the futures betting market, but Ruud is a good pick to win this tournament.
He has just as good of a shot as any of the other three players and is being a little overlooked.
He knows the pressure of these moments, having played in back-to-back French Open finals, and should be considerably more rested than his competition since he last played Monday.

2019 French Open Men’s Final Nadal vs Thiem Odds, Preview & Prediction
- When: Sunday, June 9 at 9:00am ET
- Where: Roland-Garros, Paris, France
- TV: FS1
- 2019 French Open Men’s Finals Odds: Dominic Thiem +351 / Rafael Nadal -555
It didn’t take long for Rafael Nadal to dispose of Roger Federer on Friday. Nadal beat Federer 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. That’s not the only reason to like Nadal, or why he’s favored to beat Thiem on Sunday.
Rafael Nadal is the greatest tennis player on clay the sport has ever seen. The King of Clay has won the French Open an amazing 11 times. He’s won the last two French Opens in 2017 and 2018. His service games won on clay is an amazing 85%. Nadal is virtually unbeatable on his favorite surface, which will make Dominic Thiem’s job on Sunday incredibly difficult.
Thiem battled the best player in men’s tennis on Friday and into Saturday. An underdog versus Novak Djokovic, Thiem dispatched of his rival after a hard fought 5 sets: 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.
Thiem had Djokovic dead to rights in the final set. He went up 5-1. But, Djokovic fought back to even the set at 5-5 before Thiem finally settled down to secure the last couple of games. He’s most definitely on a roll after beating Gael Monfils, Karen Khachanov, and now Djokovic.
Not only that, but he’s had some success versus Rafael Nadal. Dominic has even had some success against Nadal on clay. Rafa has the 8 to 4 head-to-head lead. He’s only 7-4 against Thiem on clay. Sounds crazy, but Thiem is probably a tougher opponent on the King of Clay’s preferred surface than Novak Djokovic.
Unfortunately for Thiem, Sunday’s match comes with a twist. Dominic had to play on Saturday after his battle with Djokovic was suspended on Friday due to rain. Thiem must not only beat the greatest tennis player to ever step onto a clay court at the most famous clay court championship in the sport. He must do so after battling the world’s number one across two days and five sets.
That’s just too much to overcome. Nadal wins on Sunday.
