Top LoL Matches to Wager on Wednesday, May 11th | Mid Season Invitational
G2 Esports vs Evil Geniuses
- When: Wednesday, May 11th
G2 Esports achieved the unthinkable and won the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) 2022 Spring, thanks to an incredible run through the lower bracket.
Similarly, Evil Geniuses had to fight their way through the lower bracket of LoL Championship Series (LCS), and their title run was just as impressive and unexpected as that of G2.
G2 Esports and Evil Geniuses have never met before at the time of writing, which should produce an interesting affair that has no clear winner. G2 Esports should be considered as the stronger side simply because they hail from a stronger region, but that isn’t necessarily true.
Even though the LEC is overall stronger than the LCS, the top teams from the two leagues are fairly evenly matched. With that in mind, it makes little to no sense to see Evil Geniuses priced as outsiders against G2 Esports.
Moreover, Evil Geniuses are individually comparable to G2 Esports and are even stronger in some positions, namely in the bottom lane and jungle. That might not be too obvious if you check the offered betting odds, but in our book, the odds are mostly based on the regions’ perceived strength rather than the teams’ actual quality.
This match is very winnable for Evil Geniuses, who are an excellent pick at outsider odds.
Prediction: Evil Geniuses to win
Royal Never Give Up vs PSG Talon
- When: Wednesday, May 11th
Royal Never Give Up are the reigning MSI 2021 champions and the recently crowned LPL 2022 Spring champions. So as the best team from one of the strongest LoL leagues globally, RNG should be one of the top League teams. But does that guarantee them success on Wednesday?
As the first match of the day, this one will be a Bo1, a format that favors the underdogs – as long as the outsider team has enough talent to put up some resistance and take advantage of the opponents’ mistakes. So the question is whether PSG Talon check those marks.
Some may argue that they don’t, but PSG Talon were underestimated at the 2021 MSI, yet they made the semi-finals. Admittedly, the team fields a different roster this time out, but the talent is still there, so we wouldn’t write them off entirely just yet.
Still, there is a good reason why PSG Talon are +300 underdogs. Individually they are weaker, and RNG should win this game more times than not. Nevertheless, the kill handicap (10.5) is way too high and presents us with an excellent betting opportunity to back the underdogs to keep the game within ten kills.
That should definitely be achievable in the current meta that favors slower games and more scaling. RNG should win, but it likely won’t be by a huge kill margin.
Prediction: PSG Talon +10.5 kills
