NASCAR Truck Odds this Weekend: SpeedyCash.Com 250 Betting Analysis and Best Drivers to Win

If we have learned anything from years of watching NASCAR it’s that winning in the playoffs is much more important in the playoffs than it is in the regular season

A win in the playoffs means an automatic berth into the next round, while a win during the regular season is solely for points. You can see a driver get into the postseason without ever having taken a checkered flag all season. That said, it’s still good to pick up some wins over the course of a long season, as that helps build momentum and make winning a habit ahead of the more popular races. This weekend, the drivers will be in Texas for the next round of races, so let’s start by taking a look at the Truck Series SpeedyCash 250 betting analysis.

Ty Majeski

Majeski is a drive that basically proves the point made in the opening of this piece, as he is sitting atop the driver standings after 6 races, none of which he has won. While he has yet to pick up his first victory of the season, Majeski has been close several times, including landing on the podium in each of the last 2 races. He has also been in the top 10 in 4 of the 6 races this season, so it does feel as though Majeski is due for a win sooner rather than later. There is a good chance that he might be able to maintain his top 10 trend this weekend, as he finished 4th in Texas last season. A top 5 would be a good bet here.

Corey Heim

Heim is currently sitting 2nd overall in the driver standings, although unlike Majeski, he does have a win to his name this season. Heim has arguably been the most consistent driver in the Truck Series thus far, as he has yet to finish outside the top 10 through the opening 6 races of the year. While he does have 1 win, it should be noted that the lone victory came on a road track at the Circuit of the Americas. He is still looking for his first win on an oval track in 2024, but will that come this weekend? Heim finished 7th in this race last year.

Tyler Amkrum

Given what we saw from Ankrum through his first 4 seasons in the Truck Series, there was no reason to believe that he might be a factor this season. He is proving us all wrong, though, as he has been incredibly consistent through the first 6 races of the year. He has been in the top 10 four times thus far, with his worst showing of the season coming on the road track at COA. It’s tough to judge his performance in Texas based on past performances given that he has made a big improvement this season. I’d be looking at a top 10 finish on Friday.

Christian Eckes

If you tend to wager on drivers on a hot streak, then you may want to take a look at Eckes this weekend. After a bit of an up and down start through the first 3 races of the season, he has hit a hot run of form, winning 2 of the last 3. That type of pace is going to be tough to maintain, but should you jump on Eckes while he is hot? As a word of warning, it is worth noting that he failed to crack the top 10 in Texas last season.

Craftsman Truck Series Fields are Different

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has some intriguing angles from a wagering perspective. Generally speaking, there are three buckets that drivers in the series fall into.

The first bucket is part-time drivers that primarily compete in the NASCAR Cup Series but drive in the Craftsman Truck Series part-time. Kyle Busch is an excellent example of this – he owns the team he fields for the Craftsman Truck Series and operates for it part-time while competing in other NASCAR series. Of the four races this season, he has raced in two, won one, and finished top five in the other one. Whether the part-time drivers compete makes a big difference in assessing the field.

The second bucket is full-time drivers who primarily compete in the truck series. The third is younger drivers who use the series as an opportunity to launch themselves into the other parts of NASCAR.

We’re only four races into the season, and the wins and top-five finishes are amongst a small group of drivers. Given the effect that part-time drivers play on the field, each week of the Craftsman Truck Series requires handicappers to consider different options.

Drivers to Target at Texas Motor Speedway

Zane Smith has been dominant in the four races that the Series has had this year. He’s racked up two wins, three top-fives, and three top-tens. He’s finished every race so far this year and looks to be the odds-on favorite to win the points championship. Smith’s strong start to the season will make him a chalk favorite for this race, but most likely at a price that doesn’t offer a great return.

For those looking for more return on their investment in this week’s race, look at youngster Nick Sanchez and truck series veteran Stewart Friesen this week. Like these truck series fields, they offer some youthful upside and veteran know-how that could result in a big finish this week.

The 21-year-old Sanchez has been off to a strong start in the Craftsman Truck Series this year, earning the pole in the first race at Daytona and getting a top-five starting position in three of the four races so far this season. His finishes in the first two races were disappointing before regaining form in Atlanta & Austin to finish second and seventh, respectively.

Friesen has been off to a rocky start after a top-ten points finish on the season last year, where he had nine top-fives and thirteen top-10 finishes. Friesen’s most recent outright victory was at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2022, so his past success at this track could lead to another high finish here again this year.
