The UFC has been a truly international organization of late with trips to Sweden and Brazil. On Saturday, it’s Fight Night 110 from Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. It will be Sunday there when this card starts, but if you’re watching Fox Sports 1 the main card begins at 10 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. The main event is a battle between heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt, with Lewis a -125 MMA betting favorite.

UFC Fight Night 110 Lewis vs Hunt Betting Odds & Prediction

Lewis (18-4, 1 NC) comes off an impressive knockout win over Travis Browne this past February in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Riding a five-fight win streak going into the night, Lewis had been asking the UFC to give him a higher-ranked opponent. His wish was granted as Browne accepted the fight while looking to stop a two-fight skid in his most recent performances.

The fight was a back-and-forth slugfest until Lewis clipped Browne with a right in the second round that sent him to the mat and then proceeded to pummel his face from there. Referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight.

Asked about the stoppage afterward, Lewis said: “I appreciate it, I appreciated (the referee) letting the fight go a little longer than what it should. I just wanted to get my anger out on Travis’ face because he likes to hit on women. So I appreciate him for doing that. I keep it real.” Lewis was referring to claims made by Browne’s ex-girlfriend that the 6-foot- 7 fighter battered her and left her covered her in bruises. The former Legacy FC heavyweight champ, called the “Black Beast” has won his last six fights, five of those by KO or TKO. That winning streak gives him the longest winning streak among current heavyweights – one more than prospect Francis Ngannou, who just moved to the USA. None other than lightweight champ Conor McGregor is second to Lewis in knockout victories for active competitors in the UFC. Lewis has eight and McGregor has six.

Lewis makes his 12th UFC heavyweight appearance since 2014, the most in the division and tied for third most among all UFC fighters behind Donald Cerrone (13) and Neil Magny (13). Lewis’ eight knockout victories in UFC heavyweight competition are tied for the third most in divisional history behind Cain Velasquez (10) and Andrei Arlovski (nine).

Hunt (12-11- 1) is from New Zealand. He’s likely most remembered for losing by unanimous decision to Brock Lesnar last July at UFC 200, a decision that was thrown out when Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene. Hunt fought in March vs. Alistair Overeem and lost by third-round KO (knee).

After Hunt opened up a huge gash on his shin to open the fight, Overeem never got baited into a slugfest. He stayed within himself and opted for the clinch game, holding Hunt’s shoulders and preventing those huge punches. Then, once Overeem got the opening, he landed huge knees to the head of Hunt, dropping him face first to the canvas. Hunt suffered a leg injury in the loss and was on medical suspension for a while.

The former K-1 champion and onetime interim UFC title challenger, Hunt is the most seasoned heavyweight fighter Lewis has ever faced. Put kickboxing and MMA together, and Hunt has far more knockouts. As impressive as Lewis’ form has been, the “Super Samoan” is looking forward to seeing how he handles his famous power.

“They all say they’re pretty tough until they get a punch in the face,” Hunt said. “Everyone at this end is tough, everyone at this end is good at fighting. It’s just a matter how much pain they can take.”

Hunt has earned all nine of his career stoppage victories by knockout. He has suffered all of his career losses by stoppage.

UFC Fight Night 109 Gustafsson vs Teixeira Betting Prediction

The UFC heads to Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday for UFC Fight Night 109 and the main event is a light heavyweight bout between former title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira. Those two were scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 69 in June 2015, but Gustafsson pulled out of that fight due to injury. He is a -315 favorite this time in the MMA odds with Teixeira at +255. The over/under is 2.5 rounds. You can see the main card on Fox Sports 1.

Gustafsson (17-4), a Swede, fought twice for the UFC light heavyweight championship, losing narrow decisions to Jon Jones in 2013 and Daniel Cormier two years ago. Gustafsson took quite a beating vs. Cormier. The split-decision loss was bad enough, but Gustafsson took so much punishment he was put on medical suspension for six months.

It wasn’t until September 2016 that Gustafsson stepped back in the Octagon to face Jan Blachowicz at Fight Night 93. Gustafsson won by unanimous decision but hasn’t fought since. He was scheduled to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira two months later but was forced to pull out with a back injury.

Teixeira (26-5), who fell short in his 2014 title bid against then-champ Jones, had won three consecutive bouts and was inching toward another title shot before a knockout loss to Anthony “Rumble” Johnson last August. Johnson landed a devastating uppercut 13 seconds into the first round. Johnson flattened Teixeira with the shot, forcing the referee to call an early end to the fight. Teixeira then picked up a decision win over Jared Cannonier at UFC 208 in January.

Gustafsson is ranked the No. 1 contender in the light-heavyweight division and Teixiera No. 2. Gustafsson has long clamored for a second shot at either Jones or Cormier and he could earn that opportunity if he can pick up a win while competing in front of his home country fans.

Teixeira has shown an iron jaw and a willingness to slug it out with anybody on their feet. That could benefit him in this fight, considering Gustafsson will enjoy a three-inch reach advantage. Gustafsson’s range and ability to either take this to the ground or avoid the takedowns could be a major factor in his ability to win the fight.

“I think it could go all five rounds,” Teixeira said. “Of course, I always look to finish as quickly as possible, by submission or knockout. But Gustafsson is tough, and he’s difficult put away. So I’m thinking it will probably last all rounds.”

In the co-main event, two of the most promising prospects in the 205-pound division face off when Misha Cirkunov (13-2) looks for his fifth straight win as he takes on Volkan Oezdemir (13-1), who made an impressive debut with a victory over former title contender Ovince Saint Preux back in February. Oezdemir outworked “OSP” for 15 minutes and took a split decision upset in his promotional debut, giving him three straight wins after the lone loss of his pro career, which came at Bellator 115.

Cirkunov, a Latvian fighter of Russian descent who lives and trains in Toronto, has won eight straight fights, including his first four in the UFC. All four of his UFC wins have come by stoppage, as have all eight wins on his current streak, making him one the 205-pound division’s best up-and-coming fighters. He re-signed with the UFC in March despite Dana White saying he was “done” with the organization. Cirkunov is -440 and Oezdemir +340.

This is currently a pick’em with an over/under of 2.5 rounds, with the over a slight favorite. Lawler is ranked as the No. 2 welterweight by the UFC and dos Anjos at No. 4. Lawler is a former welterweight champion. He surrendered his title to current champ Tyron Woodley in June 2016 but has since rebounded with a decision win over Donald Cerrone in July. The 35-year-old Lawler defended his title twice before losing to Woodley in fight of the year candidates against Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit. In fact, in a poll of UFC fans on ESPN.com earlier this year Lawler’s epic welterweight title defense against MacDonald at UFC 189 on July 11, 2015, was voted the best UFC fight ever.

MacDonald gave Lawler all he could handle in the five-round fight, but eventually succumbed to a straight left hand. The punch didn’t knock down MacDonald, but it appeared to injure him in some way. After a short delay, MacDonald crumpled backward, prompting referee John McCarthy to step in. It was an action-packed fight and at various stages is looked as if MacDonald would win. Lawler was down 39-37 on all three judges’ scorecards going into the fifth round.

Dos Anjos is a former lightweight champion. The Brazilian elected to move up in weight last year after back-to-back losses to Eddie Alvarez and Tony Ferguson. Since moving up, dos Anjos is 2-0, including a one-sided submission victory over Neil Magny at UFC 215.

Ricardo Lamas (18-5) vs. Josh Emmett (12-1)

UFC on Fox 26 Betting Pick: Ricardo Lamas -275

Lamas is the No. 3 ranked featherweight and a -275 favorite with Emmett at +225. Lamas originally was supposed to fight Jose Aldo, a featherweight legend, but those plans changed shortly after Frankie Edgar was forced to withdraw from his featherweight title fight vs. champ Max Holloway at UFC 218. The UFC turned to Aldo as a replacement, and he lost again to Holloway.

Lamas has gone 5-2 since his 2014 loss to Aldo at UFC 169. Lamas’ losses came to two-time title challenger Chad Mendes and Holloway, the latter coming at UFC 199 in June 2016. But since the Holloway loss, Lamas has back-to-back stoppage wins. He submitted Charles Oliveira over a year ago, and in July he stopped Jason Knight with a first-round TKO at UFC 214. Emmett enters off a dominant unanimous-decision win over Felipe Arantes at UFC Fight Night 118.

Santiago Ponzinibbio (25-3) vs. Mike Perry (11-1)

Ponzinibbio is the 10^th spot welterweight and a -195 favorite with Perry at +165. Both guys are very talented on the mat with Ponzinibbio boasting a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but they generally have minimal interest in grappling, relying instead on their thunderous striking power to win. Expect an early finish to the fight as both look for the knockout. Ponzinibbio has 14 wins by KO and Perry 11.

Ponzinibbio, who has won five in a row and seven of his last eight, didn’t have Perry in mind as a potential opponent. In fact, he says he never watched even one of “Platinum’s” five UFC bouts. Perry is coming off back-to-back knockouts over Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes, who stepped up on short notice to replace Ponzinibbio’s teammate Thiago Alves in Pittsburgh in September. Perry has quickly ascended the UFC’s 170-pound ladder with four crushing knockout victories, including a Performance of the Night finish over veteran Jake Ellenberger.

Glover Teixiera vs. Misha Cirkunov

UFC on Fox 26 Betting Pick: Misha Cirjunov -165

Teixiera is the third-ranked light heavyweight and Cirkunov No. 7. The Latvian is a -165 favorite with the Brazilian at +140. This bout was originally scheduled UFC Fight Night 119 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but was moved for no apparent reason.

Teixeira, a former 205-pound title challenger, is coming off a fifth-round knockout loss to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28. The 37-year-old Brazilian owns notable wins over Rashad Evans, Ryan Bader, Quinton Jackson and Ovince St. Preux in the Octagon but is 1-2 in his past three fights. Cirkunov had an eight-bout winning streak snapped at UFC Fight Night 109 when he was knocked out 28 seconds into his encounter with Volkan Oezdemir. A short right hand from Oezdemir as he circled off the fence caught the charging Cirkunov just behind the ear and dropped him on his face, setting up a TKO finish via a violent change of fortunes.

After winning the first 12 fights of her career in mostly dominating fashion Rousey got beaten to a pulp in her shocking UFC 193 title loss to striker supreme Holly Holm. After suffering a second round knockout loss that came via a head Kick and punches, a clearly embarrassed Ronda Rousey basically went into hiding while taking a whopping 13-month layoff before fighting reigning champ Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30.

Now, after suffering a TKO loss to Nunes that came a stunning 48 seconds into the fight, Rousey looks like a defeated fighter whose confidence is completely shot. I’m going to say that Rousey doesn’t take Jon Jones’ advice to get back in the Octagon any time soon.

“My advice to Ronda would be to pick yourself up and try again,” Jones the unbeaten former light heavyweight champion tweeted. “I think it’s important for Ronda to show her fans how great she truly is by displaying her courage and giving it another try.”

While it’s anyone’s guess right now, again, I suspect that Rousey will not fight in 2017, especially after pocketing a cool $3 million for her quick fight against Nunes. While I don’t think Rousey is necessarily ready to call it a career, especially after suffering two embarrassing losses, I just don’t think she’s in the frame of mind to fight anyone any time soon.

Rousey Will Join The WWE In 2017: +1500

Analysis:
Reports say that WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon would love to have Rousey join the WWE, but I’m not very sure that Rousey will want to perform any ‘fake’ fights after getting embarrassed in the ‘real’ world.

“Our fans love Ronda,” McMahon said. “Ronda has this cross platform appeal in terms of all forms of entertainment. We would welcome her with open arms. She is the total package.”

Stephanie also commented on the WrestleMania 31 segment with Rousey, Triple H and The Rock, calling it awe inspiring

“The moment was awe inspiring. Our business works the best when there is magic and energy in the air, and Ronda’s presence brought that. With a guest appearance like Ronda’s, to work best it has to be genuine and authentic. Pop culture is a huge strategy for WWE, our storylines are reflective of what’s happening in the world and what’s popular. In sports, it doesn’t get much more popular than Ronda.”

McMahon also went on to say how Rousey’s personality would fit in perfectly with the WWE, particularly seeing as how her nickname “Rowdy” comes from legendary WWE wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who passed away last year.

“Muhammad Ali credited pro wrestling for where he got his trash talking skills and persona,” McMahon said. “I would like to think there is a bit of ‘Rowdy’ and wrestling history in Ronda and the way she carries herself, but she is definitely her own individual brand.”

I’m going to get right to it by saying that there is no way that Ronda Rousey fights in Bellator in 2017. If Rousey is going to fight, she’s going to perform in the world’s best organization, not the second best.

Analysis: I guess it’s possible that Rousey could join the Ultimate Fighter as a team leader, but I’m thinking she simply wants to avoid the fighting spotlight and all of the endless questions that would come along with it until she’s ready to fight for herself again. Rousey appeared in The Expendables 3 in 2014 and Furious 7 in 2015 and could very well appear in some sort of acting role in the near future, whether it’s on Netflix or not. According to UFC President Dana White, Rousey is definitely toward the tail end of her fighting career and loves acting.

“She made a lot of money. She accomplished a lot of what she set out to do,” White said recently. “And she loves acting. She loves acting. She’s good at it. If she dedicated herself to it, she would be even better at it.”

I’m going to go with a ‘Yes’ pick here and say that Rousey gets offered some sort of role in some Netflix production where she’s basically a bad ass that kicks all sort of butt.
