I think it is fair to say that this has been something of a breakout season for the WNBA in terms of viewership and popularity.
The arrival of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has led to more people tuning in and finding that women’s basketball is a whole lot better than they imagined it would be.
My Analysis
With the WNBA taking a break for the Olympic Games, it is the perfect time to look back at the first half and try to decide who might be in the hunt to win the championship this season.
We have 10 more days before the action returns to the WNBA, so let’s take some time to look at the current odds of winning it all this season.
^Top 2 Favorites
There are 2 teams who are the clear favorites ahead of the rest of the pack, but I think we might see one of them fall out of that spot if things play out the same way they did in the first half of the season.
Given that they came into this year looking to land a three-peat, the Las Vegas Aces (+152) were the obvious favorites to win it all.
They are currently down in the #5 spot right now with a 16-8 record, but they are also just 3 games out of 2nd, so they could move up in the second half.
The New York Liberty (+160) made it to the final last year and look set to make another deep run.
They are at the top of the standings right now with a 21-4 record. They have lost just once at home, so getting home court advantage could be important.
^MyBookie WNBA Odds to Win Today
Dark Horse Teams
There are a trio of teams that fall into this category, all of whom look set to make the playoffs this season.
We have to start out with the Connecticut Sun (+780) who are sitting in the #2 spot at the moment with an 18-6 record.
They are one team that was probably happy for the break, as they were just 5-5 in the 10 games before the Olympics. The Minnesota Lynx (+910) were on a similar roll to the Sun, playing .500 ball in the 10 games leading up to the Olympic break.
The Lynx are 17-8 overall, which is the same record as the Seattle Storm (+990), but you have to say that Seattle have been a good deal hotter, winning 8 of their last 10 games prior to the break.
^Longshot Teams
It seems unlikely that the eventual WNBA championship winner will come from teams outside those we have already mentioned.
In seeds 6 through 8, you have a trio of teams that all appear to be rather similar, and all of whom look like a decent bet to make it into the postseason.
How far they make it remains to be seen, with the Phoenix Mercury (+2600), Indiana Fever (+9000), and Chicago Sky (+14000) all sitting a few games up on the teams below the cut line.
The teams that look to be totally out of it at this point are the Atlanta Dream (+40000), LA Sparks (+50000), Dallas Wings (+50000), and Washington Mystics (+50000). Even making it to the playoffs seems like a stretch for these teams at this point.

Las Vegas Aces +100
The Aces are the back to back champions in the league. A season ago, the Aces finished with a 34-6 regular season record. There is very little doubt they once again are going to have the most talented roster this season. Las Vegas will not be selecting in the first round of the WNBA Draft. Their pick was 12th, but that now belongs to Atlanta.
Las Vegas Aces
WNBA Pick: Aces +100 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
New York Liberty +250
New York was the runner up a season ago. The Liberty won 32 games, including a 17-3 mark on the road. If it was not for Las Vegas, this team would be flying high on top of the WNBA world. New York is once again going to be the team to beat out of the Eastern Conference. They come into the season at +250 to win it all.
New York Liberty
WNBA Pick: Liberty +250 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Connecticut Sun +1200
The Sun were third last year in overall record. Connecticut went 27-13 on the season. They are projected to select 10th in the draft. THere will be some good talent there. Many feel the Sun will take forward Alissa Pili from Utah, but others are curious if they will go with Nyadiew Puoch out of Australia. The Sun are third in odds, at +1200 to win it all.
Connecticut Sun
WNBA Pick: Sun +1200 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Seattle Storm +1200
It was a horrendous season for the Seattle Storm in 2023. They won just 11 games, and lost their final four of the season. The Storm went 4-16 at home. But, if one team was ready for a bounce back in 2024 it would be Seattle. The Storm do not have a first round pick in 2024, but they like their returning roster after the lessons of last season. Seattle is tied with Connecticut at +1200.
Seattle Storm
WNBA Pick: Storm +1200 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Indiana Fever +2000
All eyes are on the Indiana Fever. The Naismith Player of the Year winner for the second straight season was Caitlin Clark. The guard is coming to Indianapolis, and they hope it is an immediate franchise changer. A season ago, the Fever finished 13-27. Indiana will need a big turn around, but Clark with some other talented players would be fun to watch. Indiana starts the draft at 20/1 to win it all.
Indiana Fever
WNBA Pick: Fever +2000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Dallas Wings +2000
Dallas went 22-18 a season ago. The Wings went 11-9 at home and 11-9 on the road. The Wings would like to break through as not just a contender, but one of the top contenders. Dallas will be drafting fifth overall. Many project Aaliyah Edwards out of UConn to get that pick. Others are wondering if they will take Ohio State’s Jacy Sheldon. Regardless of their choice, they want to make sure she fits with the talent returning.
Dallas Wings
WNBA Pick: Wings +2000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Phoenix Mercury +2500
The Mercury do not have a first round pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. The news recently came that Brittney Griner resigned with the team for her 11th season in the league. Griner’s talent is still there, but she is not a game changer in the league anymore. She is going to need some help. But, having her back for what the team hopes if the full season will certainly help their 9-31 mark of a season ago.
Phoenix Mercury
WNBA Pick: Mercury +2500 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Atlanta Dream +5000
The Dream were fifth in the standings a season ago at 19-21. They were tied with Minnesota and Washington. The Dream are set to take the 12th pick in the draft. Nika Muhl from UConn is a name some are looking at, while Leila Laca from France could also be a new member of the Dream.
Atlanta Dream
WNBA Pick: Dream +5000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Minnesota Lynx +5000
Much like Atlanta, the Lynx were under .500 to finish the season. But, some excitement is about to the franchise with the 7th pick in the draft. Many project Angel Reese to be the selection for the Lynx. The former LSU post player had a nice season, but struggled a bit in the Elite 8 loss to Iowa. Reese certainly will help the eyeballs on the squad, as she is a large name heading into the draft.
Minnesota Lynx
WNBA Pick: Lynx +5000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Chicago Sky +8000
After their 18-22 season of a year ago, the Sky have the third overall pick in the draft. It appears forward Rickea Jackson will be on her way to Chicago. Jackson is a great shooter, and will make opponents have to think about leaving her open anywhere near midrange.
Chicago Sky
WNBA Pick: Sky +8000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Washington Mystics +8000
The Mystics were 19-21 a season ago. They are set to take the 6th pick in the draft. There are several names we have talked about going to other teams that could be available in this pick. It will be interesting to see the direction they go. They will want to make sure they are doing their homework, as this franchise needs a nice pick me up.
Washington Mystics
WNBA Pick: Mystics +8000 | Odds for WNBA Title Who Will Be Crowned Champions? MyBookie Offers Odds for the WNBA Title
Los Angeles Sparks +8000
Last, but not least is the Los Angeles Sparks. Despite being at the bottom of the odds to win the title, this is a team that will have eyeballs all over them at the draft. The Sparks get the 2nd pick in the draft, and the fourth pick. Many expect center Cameron Brink to go as the second pick. During the NCAA Tournament, Brink played 71 minutes and scored 32 points and had 18 blocked shots. Brink is really good on defense, but needs to work on her ability to not foul. The fourth overall pick, that many projects will be Kamilla Cardoso from South Carolina. This is going to give the Sparks quite an opportunity to re-image their franchise with two major talents in the paint.
There you have it. Those are the up to date Odds to win WNBA Championship. This is before the season starts. The draft is coming up. Enjoy it and best of luck with all your betting!

Las Vegas Aces +100
The Aces return the roster that has won back to back titles. It was the first time they took the title in back to back seasons since Los Angeles did it back in 2001 and 2002. It is going to be awfully tough to dethrone this franchise right. They can score, they can defend, and they play a style of basketball that is unmatched in the league. They finished the regular season with 34 wins in 40 games. The Aces return the previous finals MVPS in Chelsea Gray and A’Ja Wilson. Vegas is such big favorites, you can only get even money betting on them right now.

New York Liberty +280
After going 23-8 during the regular season, including 15-5 on the road, the Liberty battled, but came up a bit short in the finals. The Liberty got to the finals for the first time since 2002, and as successful of a franchise as they have been, their lack of success in the postseason has been troubling. The Liberty have never won the title. New York comes into the season a little under 3/1 to win the title.

Connecticut Sun +120
The Sun got to the title round in 2022, but lost to Vegas. It was their first trip since 2019. The Sun have never won a WNBA title. A season ago, the Sun finished with the third best record, with 27 wins and 13 losses. The Sun were just as good on the road as they were at home. They should be another contender this season as their roster is full of talented, and experienced players.

Seattle Storm +1200
It is a little surprising to see the Storm so high in the odds, but maybe the 2023 season was not the real Seattle Storm. They certainly hope, as they finished as the second worst team in the league with just 11 wins in 40 games. Seattle was terrible away from home, with just four wins in 20 games. The Storm also did not finish strong, as they lost their final four games. This is a franchise that won titles in 2010, 2018 and 2020. The loss of Breanna Stewart, who was their first pick in the 2016 draft has hurt them, but they are looking for players to step up when the 2024 season tips off.

2024 WNBA Odds for May Swing Wildly for the Next Season
Previous Betting News
While the Las Vegas Aces are one win away from becoming the WNBA team to win back-to-back championships in over 20 years, getting that final victory may be an intense labor.
The Aces have been losing key players and will need to think on their feet to outlast the New York Liberty.
The Liberty assembled a super team in the offseason — bringing in Jonquel Jones, Breanna Stewart, and Courtney Vandersloot — to bring the franchise their first championship.
Let’s take a look of what 2024 WNBA season will have for us, from odds to win WNBA Championship to plya movements that will affect the lines through out the next season.
2024 WNBA Odds for May Swing Wildly for the Next Season | MyBookie Women’s Basketball Betting Preview
2024 WNBA Season: 28th season of the Women’s National Basketball Association
New York still not Favored to Win the Championship
The Aces were so dominant in the first two games of the series, both double-digit Las Vegas victories; they were road favorites to close things out in Game 3. But the series’ third game at the Barclays Center would be disastrous.
The Aces’ offense fell apart in the second half, and New York earned a double-digit victory. Las Vegas is still -225 to win the series, while the Liberty are +185.
What could swing the momentum?
Las Vegas took a harsh blow a few months ago when veteran star Candace Parker was injured for the season. The Aces may have lost two more important players due to injury. Chelsea Gray, who was the Finals MVP last season, injured her foot in the fourth quarter and is likely out for the series.
Las Vegas center Kia Stokes was also injured and will be out for at least Game 4. For a team that leaned heavily on its starting five during the first three games of the series, this will cause the Aces to have to innovate. Las Vegas has already said it plans to use Kelsey Plum to run the point in Gray’s absence.
This will mess with the Aces’ offensive flow. Plum is one of the team’s top 3-point shooters and will be more involved with ball handling.
New York’s defense has also figured some things out
The Liberty finally found a way to slow down Las Vegas in Game 3. The Aces only shot 33 percent from the field despite still finding a way to make 23 trips to the free-throw line. New York defended aggressively and clamped down on Aces’ star A’ja Wilson.
Wilson shot 4 of 16 from the field. Las Vegas also only received nine points from its bench. With the injuries the Aces’ suffered during the last game, this isn’t something Las Vegas can afford going forward.
Jones will have plenty of room to operate
Jonquel Jones was already able to get to the rim with little issue. Now that Stokes is out, Jones’ path to scoring easy baskets for the Liberty will be a little easier.
What makes Jones challenging to guard is that she can also step out and make 3-pointers. Jones finished with a team-high 23 points in Game 3 and made four 3-pointers.
Jones’ performance, she also grabbed eight rebounds, opened things up for her teammates.

Odds to Win 2023 WNBA Championship Before the Season Starts
Previous Betting News
A new WNBA season has arrived, and the era of superteams has been emphasized heading into the 2023 season. The offseason movement saw the best players go to the organizations who treated their players the best.
The Las Vegas Aces are the favorites at +120 to defend their championship. They return A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, and add the legendary Candace Parker. The only question is whether coach Becky Hammon will remain on the bench through courtship with NBA coaching jobs.
Nearly a co-favorite, the New York Liberty were a pesky team in 2023. They were led by Sabrina Ionescu and Stefanie Dolson, who now have a lot of help. The Liberty signed former MVP Breanna Stewart and the best point guard in the league in Courtney Vandersloot. New York also acquired Jonquel Jones to create one of the most formidable starting lineups. The Liberty are +130 to win the championship.
Let’s look back at what has happened in the season so far, and analyze the teams with the best WNBA betting lines of winning it.
Betting Odds to Win 2023 WNBA Championship
When: May 19 – September 10
Number of Games: 40
Number of teams: 12
Second Tier
The Washington Mystics have one of the sport’s best unicorns. Elena Delle Donne is entering her 10th season and at 6 foot 5 is a difficult matchup because of her guard-like skills but also the ability to post up over smaller defenders.
She wants to win, and she has veterans like Kristi Toliver and Natasha Cloud to aid there. The Mystics also have young guard Jazmine Jones, who has played well and gets a change of scenery. Second-year players Evina Westbrook, Shakira Austin, and new addition Emily Engster add depth to a team in need of it. The Mystics are third on the odds board at +1300.
Then there is the Connecticut Sun, who reached the WNBA Finals a season ago. They are at +1800 to win the championship. While they lost Jones to New York, there is still a strong veteran core returning.
DeWanna Bonner enters her 14th season as a versatile wing. She proved to be the emotional leader during last season’s postseason run. Returning for an 11th season is Tiffany Hayes and Alyssa Thomas is back for her 10th season. Rebecca Allen is another veteran guard back in the mold, while Brionna Jones, the team’s star and former defensive player of the year, enters her seventh season.

Best Longshot
The Phoenix Mercury had a difficult season in 2022. They had to play it without Brittney Griner, a 6-foot-9 center and former MVP. She was detained in Russia in February of that year and was not released until a prisoner swap in December.
It was clearly an emotional season as Skylar Diggins-Smith and Dianna Taurasi both took leave of absence. But they return with their “sister” back in the mix. Griner gives them a great screener, a mismatch in the post, and a great defender who provides a security blanket.
At +2000, that would be a good ticket to hold onto as the season rolls along.

2019 WNBA Season Odds, Predictions & Picks
Previous Betting News
As the NBA season draws close to the end, hoops fans need something to look forward to. The good news is that the 23rd season of the WNBA will begin in earnest this week, with the opening tip of the new season set for May 24th. There is a total of 12 teams vying for the title this season, with everyone looking to knock off the champions from last season, the Seattle Storm.
Rather than breaking it down for all 12, we are instead going to take a look at the 4 WNBA betting favorites heading into the new season, as the feeling is that it will be one of that group who rises to the top.
WNBA Betting Odds & Predictions for 2019 Season
2019 WNBA Betting Favorites
Seattle Storm
- 2019 WNBA Championship Odds: +185
The Storm were easily the best team, in the league last year, finishing up the season with a 26-8 record, 3 games up on the chasing pack by the time it was all said and done. Breanna Stewart was the MVP of the WNBA Finals last season and will be looking to lead the way for the champions this season.
Washington Mystics
- 2019 WNBA Championship Odds: +400
They were among the favorites heading into the postseason, but given their previous lack of success, you always felt that they would come up a little short, which they eventually did in the championship game. This is a team that should bounce right back after gaining some great experience last year. I think they might just win it all this time around.
Connecticut Sun
- 2019 WNBA Championship Odds: +700
Last season was a bit of a return to form for a Sun team that really hadn’t delivered anything in the postseason for quite some time. They ended up as runner-up in consecutive seasons in 2004 and 2005, after which they did not get back to the final.
The Sun closed out the season with a 21-13 regular season record, closing things out with a run of 3-straight wins that didn’t carry over into the postseason. If they can take another step forward this year, there is no reason they can’t make a deep run in the playoffs.
Los Angeles Sparks
- 2019 WNBA Championship Odds: +750
Even people who don’t follow the WNBA all that closely know about the LA Sparks. While they may be the best-known team in the league, they have not had a ton of success in recent seasons. They were the last team to win back to back championships, with those wins coming in 2001 and 2002.
Their last title came in 2016, which they followed up by losing in the final the following year. At 19-15 last season, the Sparks made the postseason but were simply not good enough to win it all. They should be a postseason team again this year, but I would be looking elsewhere for a champion.
Last 10 WNBA Champions
- 2018: Seattle Storm
- 2017: Minnesota Lynx
- 2016: Los Angeles Sparks
- 2015: Minnesota Lynx
- 2014: Phoenix Mercury
- 2013: Minnesota Lynx
- 2012: Indiana Fever

Expert WNBA Betting Predictions for 2018 Season
Previous Betting News
With the 2018 season quickly approaching, WNBA betting enthusiasts and fans everywhere are gearing up for what promises to be one of the most exciting seasons in WNBA history.
The Phoenix Mercury and Dallas Wings will kick off the 2018 campaign at on Friday night at 10 PM ET. The 22nd season in WNBA history will feature a matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever one day later and then, all 12 teams will be in action on Sunday to round out opening weekend.
Now, based on the latest NBA Championship odds to win it all and some other details, let’s get to some of my 2018 WNBA predictions.
Expert WNBA Betting Predictions for 2018 Season
MVP: Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystics)
Delle Donne is a flat-out scoring machine that will be even more comfortable in her second season with the Washington Mystics than she was a year ago. The Delaware native averaged 19.7 points per game last season while shooting a career-high 49.4 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three-point distance. The Mystics went 18-16 last season to finish tied with Phoenix for the fifth-best record in the league, so they’re clearly not as far off from championship contention as you might mistakenly believe.
The 2015 league MVP should see her scoring average increase with forward Emma Meesseman sitting out this coming WNBA season. If she can put the Mystics on her back and carry them into the postseason, it could very easily happen that she wins the MVP award!
Rookie of the Year: A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces)
After a 15-year run in San Antonio, the franchise is now being called the Las Vegas Aces and I see absolutely no reason why the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, A’ja Wilson won’t win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. The 6-5 Wilson possesses a rare combination of size, power, athleticism, and shooting ability that is as rare a four-leaf clover.
The former South Carolina star and NCAA Player of the Year have superstardom written all over her bright future. Wilson will also be playing for one of the best coaches in WNBA history in Bill Laimbeer.
Defensive Player of the Year: Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury)
This pick is an absolute no-brainer. Brittney Griner is hands-down the best defensive player in the league and the only player that can affect the outcome of games with her defense along.
Her four blocks per game in 2015 are a WNBA record, and so too are the 3.3 blocks she averages for her career. Hell, forget about Defensive Player of the Year, Griner could win that and the league MVP award as well.
Final standings
- 1. Los Angeles Sparks
- 2. Minnesota Lynx
- 3. Phoenix Mercury
- 4. Connecticut Sun
- 5. Atlanta Dream
- 6. New York Liberty
- 7. Washington Mystics
- 8. Dallas Wings
- 9. Seattle Storm
- 10. Chicago Sky
- 11. Las Vegas Aces
- 12. Indiana Fever
Finals WNBA Betting Prediction: Lynx Over Mercury in 4
I like Phoenix to end the Lynx vs. Sparks Finals matchups we’ve seen the last two season, but I am still expecting Maya Moore and company to go back-to-back by beating the Phoenix Mercury in four games.
The Lynx are loaded with talent, plus they have experience and great leadership, which will be more than enough to get past Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner.
