There are just 3 races left in the WRC season and things are tightening up at the top of the driver standings. The lead is now down to just 52 points, which is still an awful lot to make up with 3 races to come. If you look at the previous 3 races, though, you see that closing that gap is not entirely impossible. The chasing pack will get another chance to edge closer this weekend in New Zealand, with races in Spain and Japan still to come. The reality is that the championship race could potentially come to an end this weekend, but will that happen? Let’s take a look at the current top 4 to see how they might make out in New Zealand so you can bet against their WRC Odds.

Kalle Rovanpera
It wasn’t so very long ago that Rovanpera looked to be cruising to the World Championship. Points have been tough to come by of late though, with the leader picking up just 9 points in the last 2 races. He had won 5 of 7 races heading into the last 3, but he has failed to win since and has had a couple of unexpectedly poor showings. Is this a case of him relaxing, thinking that the title is safe, or is he just experiencing a dip in form? It’s tough to say, and even tougher to predict how this weekend might go, as this will be the first foray into New Zealand.
Ott Tanak
If any driver can pull out the dramatic comeback for the win in the final weeks of the season, you would have to say that Tanak looks the most likely. He has come from nowhere to go on a spectacular run up to 2nd place in the driver standings. Over the last 6 races, he has 3 wins and a pair of other podium finishes to his name, and while there is still a lot of work to be done to overtake Rovanpera, you do have to say that Tanak has momentum on his side. Tanak went on a very similar run when he wins the World Championship back in 2019, and if he wins again this weekend, things will get pretty exciting.
Thierry Neuville
The race for the championship might have been a little tighter were it not for Thierry Neuville spoiling the party. He held off Tanak in the previous race in Greece, getting the win that was probably a case of too little, too late. Even with that win, Neuville finds himself 70+ points out of the lead, and with 3 races to go, he would need to win out and hope for some real help along the way. Still, a very good season for Neuville and he will be looking to finish strong.
Elfyn Evans
For the rest of the drivers in the WRC, the final 3 races of the season are really all about jockeying for position to get the highest possible finish. Evans probably still has a shot at moving up a spot, but getting any higher than 3rd in the final standings is going to be tough. He doesn’t have any wins on the season, although he has managed 4 2nd place finishes, so he could be in the mix this weekend.
