Xfinity Playoffs 2024: United Rentals 250 – Top Contenders & Betting Odds

When it comes time for the playoffs, we all tend to focus on the drivers that are in, forgetting that a non-playoff driver might come away with the win in any given week.

That is what happened with the first race in the Xfinity Series playoffs, with Aric Almirola getting the win in the first race in the Round of 12.

United Rentals 250 | Odds for NASCAR Race Saturday
1. Austin Hill | 2064 points
2. Jesse Love | 2041 points
3. AJ Allmendinger | 2026 points
4. Aric Almirola | 326 points

My NASCAR Xfinity Series United Rentals 250 Analysis

He is not part of the playoff picture, so it is worth keeping in mind that the other drivers might be out trying to ruin the party.

That is last week, though, so it’s time to look ahead to the 2nd of 3 races in the Round of 12.

The United Rentals 250 will be held on the famed Talladega track this coming Saturday at 4 PM EST, so let’s take a look at the current favorites for this one.

^

Austin Hill +300

While he would have loved to have seen his playoff run begin with a win, Hill is probably okay with his 7th place finish in Kansas in the opening Round of 12 race.

In previous years, Hill has started the season strong, only to see his performances peter out as the season moves on, so a top 10 finish in the playoffs is by no means a total disaster.

Hill is currently sitting 3rd overall right now and is looking like a good bet to make it into the Round of 8, but what will he do this weekend?

He has failed to crack the top 10 in his last 2 runs at Talladega, so I am not totally confident in taking him for the top 3.

^

Jesse Love +620

Here is where things start to get very interesting, as we have a driver who is a little too close to the cut line to feel totally safe.

Love needs a big performance this weekend, and this might well be the track where he can get the job done.

Jesse has just 1 win in his first full season with the Xfinity Series, with that one coming in Talladega a few months back.

While he hasn’t won since, Love is on a run of 5 straight races finishing in the top 10. He is due for a win, so why not on the track where he has done it already?

^

AJ Allmendinger +1050

When you only have 8 of the 12 drivers moving on to the next round of the playoffs, you always have a few guys on the bubble.

As it stands right now, Allmendinger is in the group of 4 that would be eliminated if the playoffs ended today.

Of course, Allmendinger can find his way into the Round of 8 without winning, but I’m sure he would feel more comfortable getting the win and the automatic berth.

Allmendinger won on this track a couple of years ago, so even though he hasn’t won this season, a top 3 might not be a bad bet.

^

Aric Almirola +1175

Like we mentioned at the top of this piece, Almirola made his mark on the playoffs in the opening race in the Round of 12.

He won that one, but since he is not part of the playoff picture given that he only races part time, it might feel like a bit of a hollow victory.

That doesn’t mean that he won’t be ready to go out and win again this weekend.

I would not be surprised if he has another good run this weekend.

The new NASCAR season is upon us, with every driver heading into the new season believing they have what it takes to win it all. MyBookie Sportsbook | 2024 Xfinity Series Betting United Rentals 300

Of course, only one driver can do it, and while the season is long, it will not take long to figure out which drivers have the chance to go all the way and end the year as the champion. There is a lot of racing to come before we get there, so let’s take it one week at a time before making any wild predictions. The jewel of the opening weekend is the Daytona 500, but we will get to that in a separate post. For the purposes of this piece, we are turning our attention to the Xfinity Series and the running of the United Rentals 300. Let’s take a look at the current NASCAR odds for the opening race of the Xfinity Series season.

Xfinity Race Odds to Win

  • Austin Hill +375
  • AJ Allmendinger +975
  • Justin Allgaier +1200
  • Cole Custer +1300

Austin Hill

In the early part of last season, it looked as though Hill was going to be the man to beat, as he came out and won 3 of the first 5 races. We all knew that it would be impossible to maintain that pace, but I don’t think we expected his season to fall off the way It did. From the 5th race onward, Hill managed just 1 more win, and while he did make it into the playoffs, he fell at the Round of 8, finishing 5th overall in the 2023 season. Among those early season wins last year was a victory at Daytona, which was his 2nd straight victory on that track in the opening race. Can he make it 3 in a row?

AJ Allmendinger

Given that Austin Hill has won this race in back-to-back seasons, it’s no surprise that he is the clear favorite, but there are definite strong options, with Allmendinger certainly in that group. Allmendinger is back in the Xfinity Series after a full season in the Cup Series, and while he is getting up there in years, he is still a driver that has to be considered a threat at this level. He raced in the Xfinity Series 5 times last season and came away with a pair of wins, so he absolutely cannot be counted out this weekend.

Justin Allgaier

Another year and yet another conversation about Allgaier’s consistency at this level, as well as his inability to win a championship. Allgaier has been one of the best drivers in the Xfinity Series for over a decade, but he has yet to land that elusive championship. He was, as always, in the hunt all the way to the end last season, finishing 2nd overall. At this point, we are all hoping he can win one before his career comes to an end, and he should be in the hunt here after landing on the Daytona podium last season.

Cole Custer

These are pretty long odds for a driver coming into the season as the defending Xfinity Series Champion, which should give you some idea of the level of talent on display this weekend. While he ended last season as the champion, it was not what anyone would call a dominant performance. He won 3 races all season long, but saved the best for last, winning in Phoenix in the final race of the year to capture the crown. Custer was 9th in this race last season, so a top 5 wager might not be a bad bet.

NASCAR Xfinity Series: United Rentals 200 Betting Prevbiew by MyBookie

After a great weekend in Las Vegas, the NASCAR train moves on to its next stop, which is Phoenix. It’s going to be another exciting weekend of racing, but for the purposes of this piece, we are focusing solely on the Xfinity Series and the United Rentals 200, which is set to go on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 PM EST. We are only 3 races into the season, so there is a lot of action to come over the next few months, but it is Austin Hill who is out to an amazing start to the season. He figures to be up among the leaders again this weekend, but he will face some stiff competition. It looks as though Kyle Busch might be dropping in again, but let’s look at some NASCAR odds and full-time Xfinity Series drivers who could make their mark in Phoenix.

When: Saturday, March 11th
Where: Phoenix Raceway

Time: 4:30 PM EST
TV: Fox Sports 1

Austin Hill

Like we said at the top of this piece, Hill is off to an absolute flyer, winning 2 of the opening 3 races of the season. His first full season with the Xfinity Series came last year, where he was able to finish 6th overall, but there is a definite sense that he is going to improve on that this time around. He has already matched his win total from last season with those two wins, so everything else at this point is gravy. He had a pair of runs in Phoenix in 2022, managing to crack the top 10 in just one of them, but I get the feeling that he will be among the leaders this weekend.

Justin Allgaier

We must sound a bit like a broken record every week because every time we talk about an upcoming Xfinity Series race, we talk about Allgaier and just how consistent he has been in his time racing in this series. The one thing that has eluded him to this point is a championship, and even though we are still early in the season, it does seem as though he is going to be challenging again. He has landed on the podium in all 3 races this season and looks to be overdue for a win.

John H. Nemechek

After bouncing around and racing in several different series, Nemechek decided to make the Xfinity Series his main focus in 2023. That seems to have been a smart move, as he is off to a very solid start, winning one race already this season. Besides that victory, he also had a podium finish at Daytona under his belt. He will more than likely be looking forward to visiting Phoenix, as he has been a regular top 5 finisher on that track. Can he do even better this weekend and pick up another win?

Chandler Smith

At just 20 years of age, Smith has a big career ahead of him. After finishing 3rd overall in the Truck Series last season, he decided to make the move to the Xfinity Series. Smooth finished outside the top 10 in the opening race of the season in Daytona, but a 3rd and 4th place finish, respectively, in the next 2 races suggests that he is getting comfortable racing in this series. A first win of the season looks to be coming sooner rather than later.
