Which team between Barca and Real deserves backing to win La Liga?

Favored Barcelona entered the break on a 4-match winning streak. In their last, Barca dusted Osasuna 2-1. Not only was Barcelona in great form before the break, but the team failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage, which means Barcelona can spend the rest of the season working towards a La Liga Primera Division title. Barcelona also boasts Robert Lewandowski. Lewa is one of the greatest strikers in history. He led Poland to a Round of 16 berth at the recently finished World Cup.’

But although Lewandowski makes defenses scramble, the team from Camp Nou must look over their shoulder. A lead by two points versus Carlo Ancelloti’s Real Madrid squad isn’t safe by any stretch of the imagination.

Real has yet to play their best soccer. Also, Karim Benzema should be back soon after a slight injury. El Blanco does remain a Champions League contender, but Ancelloti is used to managing a La Liga and a Champions League season.

After the next matchday, Real could be in the lead if Barcelona falls to Espanyol. So at the odds, Real is a great play to win La Liga.

Is Atletico Madrid worth a look at their current odds?

Atletico wants to unload Jao Felix and his massive contract during the January transfer window. Felix hasn’t fit in to Atletico’s style.

If that happens, Madrid might be worth a look. The problem with backing Atletico is that because they only have 24 points, the team could be in for a long spring and summer no matter what they do.

Backing Atletico means you believe Barcelona and Real start losing matches. That’s not likely to happen.

Among the underdogs, Bilbao, Sociedad, Betis, and Villareal, which team has the best chance of pulling off the massive upset?

Sociedad has 26 points. Bilbao and Betis both have 24 points and Villareal has 21. None of the teams listed should challenge Real or Barca for La Liga’s top spot.

But if you must decide, then the two teams to consider are Sociedad and Bilbao. Historically, Athletic Bilbao has challenged the leaders.

Bilbao almost never pulls off the win. Challenging has been good enough. However, if Barca and Real falter, AB should be there.

Not only that, but Athletic Bilbao entered the break wining three straight. One of the victories was a terrific 3-0 win over rival Villareal.

Sociedad also won 3 straight before the hiatus. La Liga’s third-place team on the standings beat Sevilla 2-1 in one of the victories.

Both Sociedad and Bilbao are worth a look if you want to throw money on a massive underdog. Just remember that the dog you back can’t just win. Barca and Real must also lose for your underdog play to hit.
