With the Bundesliga completing Matchday 1 over the past weekend, all the major European domestic leagues are underway.

We all have our favorites already picked to win it all, but do the bookies agree with us?

My Analysis

That is the question we will be answering here, as we are going to look at the odds for the top 4 leagues in Europe as they stand now.

We will, over the course of the season, check in to see how things have changed, but for the moment, let’s look at how things stand now.

Updated UEFA Top Leagues: English Premier League

We are 2 weeks into the season and the teams that are expected to be at the top of the league are doing their thing.

Manchester City (+116) remain the favorites to win another title, and they have looked solid through their opening 2 games, outscoring the opposition 6-1.

Arsenal (+157) is also unbeaten and have yet to concede a goal, scoring 4 times in their opening 2 games of the season.

The same rules apply to Liverpool (+530) who have also won twice, outscoring the opposition 4-0 in the process.

Chelsea (+2400) looked impressive in a 6-2 win over Wolves in Matchday 2.

Updated UEFA Top Leagues: LaLiga

We are 2 games into the new season in Spain and have a surprise leader at eh top in Celta Vigo.

This will not be the case as the season progresses, though, as we all still expect Real Madrid (-248) to eventually pull away.

The champions have 4 points from 2 games and are still waiting for Kylian Mbappe to get off the scoring mark.

Barcelona (+330) have picked up maximum points and have outscored the opposition 4-2 in the process.

Atletico Madrid (+1100) are in a similar boat as Real Madrid, as they have already dropped points, taking 4 from 6 to start the season.

Updated UEFA Top Leagues: Bundesliga

It was a wild weekend to start the German Bundesliga, but when all was said and done, the favorites all came away with a win.

Bayern Munich (-186) are looking for a bounce back season, but they needed to come from behind to get a 3-2 win in their season opener.

It was much the same story for the defending champions, Bayer Leverkusen (+208), who had to work very hard to get a 3-2 win in their opening game.

It was a more comfortable start for Borussia Dortmund (+890) as they cruised to a 2-0 win in their opener.

RB Leipzig (+1200) also picked up a win to start their campaign.

Updated UEFA Top Leagues: Serie A

It has been an interesting start to the Italian league, with no team able to win their opening 2 games, although that might change on Monday.

Inter Milan (-151) are on top after picking up 4 points from their opening 2 games.

Juventus (+300) won their opening game of the season and can move to the top if they win their second game of the season on Monday afternoon.

AC Milan (+800) were stunned in their opener with a loss to Parma and only managed a point from their second game of the season.

Napoli (+1000) was hammered in their opening game, but they bounced back to get a solid win over the weekend.

2024 Europe’s Top Leagues Season Start Dates, Odds, and Betting Preview

It has been an amazing summer for soccer fans, with multiple tournaments to enjoy in what is usually a downtime.

We had the European Championship, Copa America, and the Olympics, all of which are now done and dusted.

My Analysis

With all the international tournaments finished, it is time for the major European domestic leagues to return to action, but when can we expect that to happen? We have all the dates available for you, so let’s dive in and take a look at the 5 top leagues in Europe.

We will have the start dates for each, as well as the odds of winning, so let’s get to it.

English Premier League

While fans from some countries in Europe might argue the point, the consensus is that the Premier League is the biggest and best domestic league in Europe.

The new season begins on Friday, August 16, with Manchester United and Fulham set to play in the opening game. We will then have the rest of Matchday 1 going on Saturday.

Each season, the bottom 3 teams are relegated to make way for 3 teams from the Championship. We will have Ipswich, Southampton, and former champions Leicester back in the EPL after a great season in the Championship.

The goal for every team in the league is to try and end the dominance of Manchester City (+120), which is going to be no easy feat.

Arsenal (+188) looks the most likely to mount a serious threat, while Liverpool (+700) could be in the hunt despite having a new manager and several personnel changes.

It is tough to see any team breaking the hold that City has on the Premier League, so the battle here might be for the other spots in the top 4, which mean an automatic berth in the Champions League.

LaLiga

The new season in Spain begins on Thursday August 15, with a pair of games to choose from. If you are waiting for the big names in LaLiga, you are going to need to wait a few more days.

Barcelona will play their opening game of the season on Saturday, while defending champions, Real Madrid, will kick off their season on Sunday.

Just like in the EPL. Promotion and relegation mean that 3 new teams will be in LaLiga this season, and more than likely fighting for their life.

The jump into the top league is a big one that is tough for teams to survive. It will be Leganes, Real Valladolid, and Espanyol who will be the new boys in the top league this season.

It was another brilliant off season for Real Madrid (-246), as they were able to land the services of Kylian Mbappe, who many consider to be the best player in the world right now.

Barcelona (+350) will be looking to bounce back, but competing with the might of Madrid is not going to be easy. The top 4 might be rounded out by Atletico Madrid (+960) and Girona (+2100).

Serie A

While some of the major European domestic soccer leagues are starting ahead of the weekend, the Serie A in Italy is saving their opening day for Saturday, August 17.

Matchday 1 is spread out over the weekend in what we hope is a better championship battle than what we saw last season, when Inter Milan won it in a canter.

We will get into the odds to win Serie A in a little bit, but let’s start by taking a look at the new teams that made it in via promotion from Serie B. The new boys in the league this year will be Frosinone, Genoa, and Cagliari.

Given how easily they won the league last season, it is probably no real surprise that Inter (-158) are once again the clear favorite to repeat as champions.

The teams most likely to challenge for the top spot and a place in the Champions League are Juventus (+360), AC Milan (+670), and Napoli (+750).

While I hate to keep going with the chalk, it does look like Inter are the team to beat again this season.

Bundesliga

Fans of German football are going to need to wait a little longer for the Bundesliga season to begin.

While we are seeing a lot of the action return this weekend, Matchday 1 in the Bundesliga is set to begin on Friday August 23.

It was something of a surprise last season, as we had an unexpected champion in the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich’s run of titles coming to an end.

Bayern Munich finished in 3rd last season despite the scoring exploits of Harry Kane. It was Bayer Leverkusen who came away with the title, which was a total shock.

This season, we will have a pair of new teams coming into the Bundesliga, with St. Pauli and Holstein Kiel winning promotion into the top league.

With a new manager on the sidelines, Bayern Munich (-200) are back in as the favorite to win the league again. Bayer Leverkusen (+250) should be strong again, while Borussia Dortmund (+1000) and RB Leipzig (+1200) are favored to be in the top 4.

Ligue 1

In France, it is very much a case of who will finish second, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) winning 10 of the last 12 titles. They lost Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid in the off season, but they are still easily the strongest team in the league by a rather wide margin.

Their main focus is on the Champions League, but will that get in the way of winning their 4th straight Ligue 1 title. The new season begins on Friday August 16.

There are 3 teams that are more likely to be battling for survival than challenging for a Champions League spot, and those are the teams that gained promotion from Ligue 2. Those new teams are Angers, Auxerre, and Saint-Etienne.

Given how things have gone over the years, it’s no surprise at all that PSG (-360 are the favorites to win Ligue 1 again. I think they are about as close to a lock as it gets, so I would get that wager in now before their odds inevitably shorten.

The top 4 is rounded out by Marseille (+1125), Monaco (+1350), and Lille (+1725).
